I just wanted to know whether a sample-config exists, that has comments for all the possible changes that can be made?
I've been looking for few days now and found nothing.
it would be easy for starters - like me, to effectively use porteus if there was.

There is no such document explaining all the parameters. You should use the wizard as it always provide correct configurations. Please have a look here:

Plus it may be too big and intimidating for majority of users. Why not ask what you would like to achieve?
It's always better to understand what you need to do and go after achieving that rather than try everything you can and see if it helps. Just a suggestion!
