Wireless

I have several HP 5730 terminals that work great with Porteus Kiosk. These machines have Broadcom B4311 adapters and they work in Parted Magic with b43-pci-bridge driver. They do not work with Porteus Kiosk.

I have downloaded the latest kiosk image and read the threads regarding blacklisting the default broadcom-sta driver. However, I am at a loss on how to apply the blacklist command on the Kiosk edition. Is this possible? I would love to enable wireless in kiosk mode on these machines.

broadcom-sta is not included in kiosk.
due to license restrictions you have to extract required firmware manually yourself as described here:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri ... oned_above
and include in kiosk ISO.

as stated on the website:
You will need an alternate working internet connection (by Ethernet cable, for example) since the firmware cannot be included with the distro itself.

Note: the firmware from the binary drivers is copyrighted by Broadcom Corporation and cannot be redistributed.
i'm always wondering if other distros does not know about this restriction or are simply ignoring it ....

OK.

I have used B43 firmware installer before, but never on Porteus. I am unsure how to install it to the kiosk iso.

it's quite easy - please follow this doc:
http://porteus-kiosk.org/kiosk-customization.html

if still in troubles then i could compile broadcom-sta driver for you through:
