Porteus

Hello
this is my first time trying the Porteus kiosk server and kiosk client.
I installed the server and I am on the administration panel window and waiting for clients to connect.
problem 1: I can't ping this server. I re-installed the server 3 times with a static IP address and was still unable to ping the server.
problem 2: I can't ssh into the server because it seems the server is unreachable. maybe ICMP is disabled. but I do not have any way to edit the configuration settings.

I am using the latest Porteus kiosk server and thin client version 5.4.

also: during the installation of the kiosk client, I did enter the server IP as the troubleshooting recommends; but still no luck.

I would greatly appreciate your helpful comments.

Server Basic should be used for monitoring of the clients only. See here for comparison of the versions:

It has no ping nor SSH enabled. You still should be able to reach the server's SSL cert on the Basic version as explained here:
https://porteus-kiosk.org/server.html#troubleshooting

Server "Premium" has SSH/VNC, possibility of managing the clients (through remote configs) and many other functions.
This is what you probably want to use.

I am able to connect clients to the server.

I wonder if you know how to, when the thin client starts, I would like it to start chrome to the default web page and show nothing else like the bottom system tray.
how do I do this?

Perhaps you could use the kiosk system instead of thinclient?
