Printing has stopped - don't know what to do from here

I'm using the kiosk edition on evaluation which does free updates for period while evaluating. I can remotely get onto kiosk using ssh and configure remotely. Printing has stopped working. I suspect due to an update. Now I don't know what to do. There is no easy way for me to see if cups is running remotely - services, systemctl not recognised by system. cups error log shows errors. Scanning forums don't provide a clue.

Please tell us your 'printer_model=' parameter and also provide the CUPS error log.

Hi Fanthom

fyi - printer was working perfectly when first setup. tested printer on a windows computer and its fine.

printer_model=Canon PIXMA iP2840

This printer model is supported by the 'gutenprint' package which has not been updated in about a year:

I really dont think the updates could cause your issues.

Please boot kiosk 4.8.0 ISO with updates disabled and confirm the printing works.
If yes the please contact me through support@porteus-kiosk.org and i'll ask you for associating your kiosk with my PK Server so i could debug this problem over SSH and VNC.

ok booted off usb and chose new config with Chrome. Downloaded Chrome. Enabled printing and chose correct printer. Process downloaded I assume printing component - in process of setting up, could print test page. 3 tabs came up, 1 was cups and the other error page:

no print. However when I went to CUPS admin page and printed test page, printed. Also printed webpage thereafter and printed.

Rebooted into normal session and tried again - no print. What next?
