Cookie persistence with Firefox not working?

Post#1 by sounder » 16 Apr 2019, 10:16

I would like to use Porteus for a kiosk system with Cookies persisted across sessions/re-boot.

It worked well for Chrome, however there was another issue with Chrome, so switching to Firefox.

Unfortunately cookies seem to be reset after reboot, even though I have the following config (persistence full and private mode disabled):

connection=wired
dhcp=yes
browser=firefox
dpms_idle=20
session_idle=2
primary_keyboard_layout=de
persistence=full
allow_popup_windows=yes
disable_private_mode=yes
timezone=Europe/Berlin
disable_zoom_controls=yes
additional_components=uefi.zip

Did I make a thinking error, or is this a bug?

Thanks for your help!

Cookie persistence with Firefox not working?

Post#2 by fanthom » 04 May 2019, 12:41

Sorry - missed this thread.

I see no reason why cookies would not be persistent with Firefox.
If issue is still not resolved then please contact with support@porteus-kiosk.org and i'll ask you for connecting your kiosk to my PK Server in order to debug it.

Thanks

Cookie persistence with Firefox not working?

Thanks for the response. I installed the system multiple times and it did not work. I then installed it (with the exact same config) selecting ongoing updates trial and there it worked. Looks like there is a difference between the version that’s available for download and the latest from the update stream that causes the inability to keep storage (or Firefox cookies) persistent.

I'm sure there is no such difference as Firefox was not upgraded for a relatively long time.
