installed kiosk server 5.4 on an old pc but the task bar is missing. Tried 2 different screens with different sizes/resolutions. Think the fist got 1024x768 and the second one full HD.

Task bar is present only in server "Premium".
Are you using this version?

If yes then please ensure that you assign at least 64 MB of memory to the GPU card. That should give you a higher screen resolutions on virtual machines like VMware or VirtualBox.
Task bar should be visible then.

Running the free version, wasn't aware about that difference.
Was looking for "task bar" but it's named "bottom panel" on the comparison site.
