Custom state testing browser for students

Post#1 by URGeSM » 11 Jan 2016, 20:36

I was wondering if anyone has any experience loading other browsers on Porteus? In my case I am interested in the California state student testing browser used for all the K-12 standardized tests. They do provide a linux binary, which I seems to be based on Firefox, here: http://ca.browsers.airast.org/

Any thoughts on how difficult this would be? I'm sure if I could get this working it would be useful to quite a few schools throughout the state.

Hello URGeSM,

Just checked and this browser works (or at least starts) out of the box and there is no need to resolve additional deps.

If you want to create custom build with this browser then please follow these docs:
http://porteus-kiosk.org/faq.html#8
http://porteus-kiosk.org/kiosk-customization.html

Thanks.

EDIT
Quick video preview can be find here:

Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

Thanks for taking the time to test that out, I will let you know if I run into any issues.

Once I have it working myself, I would be glad to provide the module to anyone who needs it.
