@patx
move your /etc/shadow from /rootcopy to 003-settings.xzm and everything will be ok :wink:

explanation: all files from 003-settings.xzm gets unpacked during GUI start and every firefox restart. this way we can be sure that all important settings are preserved. even if user manage to replace /etc/shadow (or any other important file) in the system, this action is vanished once firefox reopens.

btw: i'll add support for ssh access to the next kiosk release (with a warning about impact on the security).
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

@django23
was hoping to get printing into next release but seems that it wont materialize anytime soon. nothing is holding me from pushing another kiosk point update with some new features which should be ready within a week once i implement everything from my kiosk's TODO list.

You are creating the Super-Kiosk Edition of Porteus! 8)
Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).
The Porteus Community never sleeps!

I just installed it on a public access network. 5 computers that had pirate versions of XP, no updates for the last 3 years and no antivirus. I was suprised the computers still booted! They're going to make a donation. Have to say you've really refined the kiosk nicely!
How do i become super user?
