Flash on Kiosk version

First of all, I would like to tell you how much I appreciate the Kiosk version of Porteus. It's simple and lightning fast, and exactly what I need when I want to check a couple of things on the internet and don't need to boot up a whole system solely for that purpose. One feature, however, that I do miss a lot is Flash. Is there a possibility to have it included? Porteus Kiosk is quite awesome on its own, but with Flash, I think it would be absolutely perfect.

Danke,

Johannes

Johannes,

If you run the kiosk wizard you'll be prompted to download the flash module. Later on in the wizard, you will be prompted to disable the flashblock addon.

The kiosk wizard is available from here: http://ponce.cc/porteus/i486/packages/k ... noarch.run.

I hope this helps.

That's great feedback! It's good to see people using it for simple personal use too. It certainly does boot fast.

We were booting PKE from CD-ROM and recently switched to USB flash drive for some of our kiosks. The speed is even better. PKE is a great product.

Create a bootable flash drive:

Code: Select all

isohybrid /tmp/porteus-kiosk-1.iso (Depends on the path and name of your customized iso.)
sudo dd if=/tmp/porteus-kiosk-1.iso of=/dev/sdx (Depends on the letter assigned to drive, i.e. sdc.)
