Homepage query parameters combined with homepage_append

Hi, thanks for maintaining such a great project!
I have a suggestion of an improvement in PK. Currently if using the parameter homepage_append it is not possible to use additional query parameters to the home page URL if homepage_append= is being used since we would end up with multiple question-marks in the URL. Wouldn't it be a good idea to enhance this logic and check the if the homepage already contains a ? and if it does, we could assume there is a existing query parameter so the homepage_append= could use a & instead.
