Re: Can't Access Porteus After Configuring Porteus.cfg XFEC-

I'm wondering whether it's correct to have load=xfce on the same line as copy2ram below. Could that be the error? definitely not. pleas make sure your xfce module is not corrupted: boot to text mode -> login as root -> activate 003-xfce.xzm -> type 'init 4' this should get you to the xfce desktop. ...

Re: Can't Access Porteus After Configuring Porteus.cfg XFEC-

Greetings: I think I stumbled across a installation flaw: Has anyone booted up the Porteus Razor 2.1 CD and selected copy2ram? As before. when it seems to fully boot-up and on the verge of displaying the log-in screen I get a black screen with a white box stating: xterm: cannot load font "-misc-fixe...

Re: Can't Access Porteus After Configuring Porteus.cfg XFEC-

@jimwg you are using 'load=xfce' cheatcode and your desktop module is not being loaded. pleas make sure you have 003-xfce.xzm in /porteus/optional Thanks for swift reply!! Okay, I have. A Puppy maven helped me come back by replacing my boot folder with my backup. By what you said, I'm wondering whe...

Can't Access Porteus After Configuring Porteus.cfg XFEC-RAM

Greetings! I was trying to take the knowledge I gleaned here to change my boot-up configuration so Porteus runs in RAM (Puppy mavens say you save wear and tear on flash drives that way), but now when it seems to fully boot-up and on the verge of displaying the log-in screen I get a black screen with...

Trying To Get Streaming Radio in XFCE

Greetings! I'm running Porteus 2.1 32bit XFCE 4.10. I log in as guest and from there I log out and back in as root (even if there's a way to directly boot-up into route I like the security aspect of a guest default boot-up in case I want to demo Porteus to home school people and others and let them ...

Thanks a million for that! The "on" check took some clicks to "catch" on, but will see if firewall's truly stays on with next boot-up. Thanks!

Re: Hide/make invisible bottom toolbar panel in Razor?

In Porteus you can use ANY of the below 003-desktops. Just place all of them in the /mnt/sdxY/porteus/optional folder and boot using the load=xfce cheatcode (or whichever is your desktop of choice for the session). http://dl3.porteus.org/x86_64/current/modules/ --> (64bit) http://dl3.porteus.org/i4...

Re: Hide/make invisible bottom toolbar panel in Razor?

@jimwg In XFCE you can easily hide the panel.(mouseover show/hide) and you can adjust the size (how many pixels) of the panel. Is it possible for me to replace Razor with XFCE without having to reformat/install a new drive? In Puppy you can upgrade so by just swapping out version .sys files. Jim in...

Re: Hide/make invisible bottom toolbar panel in Razor?

Unfortunately this has not yet been implemented upstream. It will be for the next release. https://github.com/Razor-qt/razor-qt/issues/107 Thanks for reply! That's a shame it can't come sooner. A complaint on Puppy forums from Porteus-wannabes is the real estate that bottom panel takes up on the sc...

Re: Can Desktops Be Assigned Own Wallpaper Image?

I think jimwg is talking about having a different wallpaper for each virtual desktop ... or workspace really. Give me a minute to read the code. EDIT: Nope these scripts won't run on Porteus without installing various other packages. Perhaps look at a program called "wallpapoz" which is designed fo...
