[SOLVED] Latest update-firefox script nutty - or is it me?
Is anyone having trouble with the latest update-firefox script, or is it me somehow? I dig the new script, and it seems to perform it's job, and when requesting that we create an xzm, it just leaves a txz. It also complains about firefox itself being corrupt. I've tried stable and beta, and they see...

Blow your mind with CP/M on Porteus
Looking for a mind-bending rainy day project? Want to see where we've come as consumers (rather than real minicomputer unix / vms boxes etc)? Just load up dosbox emulator. Inside that, pop in Simon Cran's "MyZ80" cp/m emulator. (old program but reliable) Watch as your Linux box running an ms-dos emu...

Porteus to Micro-SD-CARD boot - easy!
Yup, that's possible. I tend to keep windows and unix bootloaders far apart, so I boot via usb or the micro-usb if allowed.

Always Fresh terminal scaling
Let's fix that XFCE4 zoom-in keybinding! I wanted a more user friendly experience, so I changed the keybindings to be operationally similar - dropping the need for the SHIFT key when zooming in. So instead of using the + key, in reality I changed it to the = key. CTRL = (zoom in) CTRL - (zoom out) ...

Always Fresh terminal scaling
Just a quick tip about the terminal keybindings in Always Fresh mode: If you need to scale your terminal fonts up or down, the following keybindings work - at least in the XFCE4 version: CTRL SHIFT + CTRL - (note no shift) Quite a bit faster than going into the terminal preferences, and clicking awa...

Missing Dependencies I ran usm -d and it reported that I was missing 31 dependencies. I'm assuming some like Python 2.7 are just flukes since we've transitioned to 3 etc etc : Missing dependencies: 31 libcdio.so.18 libcelt0.so.2 libclangAST.so.8 libclangAnalysis.so.8 libclangBasic.so.8 libclangCode...

USM segmentation fault: XFCE4: Trying to USM > Update > Update All > From the gui ends with a segmentation fault. It seems to go normally at first, checking files, optimizing manifest and so forth. But what is seen is before it segfaults, it is as if someone is rapidly hitting a return/enter key (n...

Sluggish Mount detective work ... Aha! It seems that the sluggish filesystem mounts of up to 20 seconds on my XFCE4 RC1 may be due to permissions. When I boot up with the noauto cheatcode, the system comes right up - bang! HOWEVER, if I try to immediately mount one of the filesystems by right click...

[Solved???] Netsurf "framebuffer"
Thanks for working on that! I enjoyed Dillo, but I don't think there's *ever* going to be a release beyond 3.05, even though work on it has continued for years. I even donated a bit, but I don't see any further release happening. Maybe it's a perfectionist thing - dunno'. Still - I used it for years...

Thanks for looking into this stuff guys - and even though I'm not running an ssd (yet), those notes AcnapyxoB absolutely rock! That went straight into the Porteus notebook. Now I feel confident enough to get one. Live-USB tool - I absolutely love that utility, so that's why I cried when it threw up ...

Porteus Updater via Settings Centre Hi - me again. :) This is only RC, but the following may not be a good idea right now... Porteus Updater > Porteus Settings Centre > Update Porteus Now icon For me, this results in 001-core-xzm and 002-core.xzm being candidates for update. If you allow the update...

Porteus Modules inactive in XFCE4
Running System > Porteus Modules and then authenticating as toor results in nothing happening.
I'm not picking on anyone, just hitting up the low-hanging stuff.

USM GUI - Duplicate Ponce settings / conflict XFCE4 here - noticed that when you run the USM gui, i noticed TWO setups for editing the Ponce repo. XFCE4 - sluggish external volume mounting Noticed that after boot, if an sda device like a vfat usb stick is inserted into the system, XFCE4 recognizes the device, but will take up to 20 seconds or so to actually mount it once your initiate a mount with a right click. Also noticed that this non-boo...
