Re: Magic Folders&new way saving data, automatic swap files

Another great contribution Falcony :) I'm really inspired by your 'Magic Folders' feature - although gonna do it in a little bit different way: Script launched from Kmenu (lxde menu) will ask the user about each: destination directory for storing changes and targed directory example: /mnt/sdb2/saved...

@skyhog99 my vbox config: Ram - 1024MB 1 CPU - Intel E8300 VT-x/AMD-V Enabled IDE controller for booting of ISO images SATA controller for VDI VDI was divided into 6 partitions as described on the video The rest should not be important. To be more clear - is Porteus hanging or it's your build hangin...

Re: debugging kernel load

Slax-6.1.2 loads:

Code: Select all

iscsi registered transport tcp
while you have

Code: Select all

# CONFIG_ISCSI_TCP is not set
Try to enable it and see how it goes :)
If it wont help - try to built all LSI Logic drivers as (*) and not (M) - they shouldn't need a firmware.

Re: Linux Live Scripts

@skyhog99 I have written new linuxrc for Porteus (mainly for performance reason) and compatibility with other distros is not my target unfortunately. I'll rename this topic to avoid confusion. I dont mind starting new topic about tweaking of official LLS - if one is interested please start it and i'...

Re: What is you computer model, does it work with the OS

sorry i thought you have 2 different models :)

is your network at work secured with a mac filtering? If yes then you can use sns-tool to bypass this - just need to know a valid MAC address.

Re: New distro name

we have a phebex in the poll, so changing it to phoebex could be possible. unfortunately phebex got only one vote so probably wont be able to win anyway. Lets focus on Portex or Proteus (coud be changed to ProteuX or ProteOS) - people, please vote!

Re: sns-tool experimental version

If it's only the sns-tool problem then you dont need to wipe off everything, just use /rootcopy dir or delete following files from your saved changes: /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 /etc/rc.d/rc.local If there's more discrepancies, then the best idea is to start from a scratch and port ...

@beny
phoenixOS is taken:

@Jay
i think it's too late for changing the list. We could only tweak a winner name a little to make it different from existing projects (like EOS).

@francois this is the queue of files (sometimes archived and compressed as modules) from which live system is assembled: 1. modules in alphabetical order from /porteus/base 2. modules in alphabetical order from /porteus/modules 3. modules in alphabetical order from /porteus/optional (when 'load' che...
