use the keyboard to change brightness.
i don't seem to have that option. My laptop has a brightness key with only 3 positions: too bright, too bright, and too dim. Not sure if that key does anything in Porteus, will try.

Slim Isn't Minimal

i don't understand a word of it, but excited about all efforts to slim down Porteus xfce.
atm, xorg+slim is apparently the biggest process on my Proteus, except the web-browser.
i mean, it's already pretty slim, but i idle at about 230MB, and would love to cut that in half :w00tx100:

Slim alternative?

is login screen the only eye-candy you mean?
which of these would work? Xephyr or xinit/startx, or both?
would this mean i can run xfce (all components) without xorg?

to run any command as guest without requiring a password (which I dont recommend) But i don't want to do that. I only want all users to adjust brightness without a password. This didn't work for me: ALL ALL = (ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness You can find ...

sudoers.d Not Working

Code: Select all

sudo tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness <<< 50
Working for me as guest. Confirm this works
ok, yes, it works with guest password.

Only asks for password on first try. Subsequent calls don't ask for password. Seems to have a time-limit.

But it likes 5000000. 50 would be black :)

Why Not pkexec?

I believe ncmprhnsbl already answered this question in his first post. Whether i can understand is a separate issue :%) i think exit-with-session is the sole reason ncmprhnsbl uses dbus-launch. Correct? -l is the sole reason ncmprhnsbl uses gksu, correct? gksu man says --login, -l Make this a login...
