[Solved] Bad Xinit Command Broke Proteus

Solution provided by Ed_P You need to boot Porteus in Always Fresh mode, mloop the save.dat file, edit/delete the change you don't want, then uloop the save.dat file and reboot with the updated save.dat file. Should this not work you can restore your save.dat file from it's backup, (you do make back...

How to Manually Save dat File?

Nope, saw that one. If it involves saving a file outside of my dat file, that's not it.

I want to manually trigger the same update to the dat file that gets saved on shutdown.

I thought I read something about a "dump" command, but maybe mistaken.

How to Manually Save dat File?

How to manually save an existing dat file?
It's set to save on exit via cheat codes, but is there a way to save it without shutting down?
i searched Porteus docs, and could not find answer.

Change the root password.
hrm, did that. I can tell it worked, cuz when i su, i have to enter the new pw.

But, guest can still sudo. They enter the standard 'guest' password.
Changing the root pw doesn't seem to affect the guest's sudo pwd.

[Solved] Directory Applet Can't Open Unless Thunar Opens First

i have a Directory panel applet pointing to an external partition. on boot, the folders don't show up in the applet. but, if i open same partition in Thunar before opening the applet, then the folders load into the applet correctly. i can see the partition is mounted, so i don't think that's the pro...

Slim Isn't Minimal

i only have 2GB RAM. On Mint xfce, with much web-browsing (esp on dynamically loading sites like youtube, quora, and facebook), plus multitasking with other apps, my RAM can pretty quickly max out. Then I get sluggishness or freeze-ups. Porteus is already the smallest usable normal-linux xfce i've s...
