[Solved] Re: Selfmade module not loading content
It worked! :Yahoo!: Nice, simple and to the point. Thank you, ncmprhnsbl. Following your explanation carefully and trying to understand the process, did more than all the previous reading and watching. Now I understand a little bit more about how modules are made, where one is supposed to remove unw...

[Solved] Selfmade module not loading content
Just starting with modules, been reading and watching videos a lot. Wanted something simple to start, so i have a directory with five original .txz packages, that want to convert into a .xzm module. I create the module, activate it, run my program, and it complains about python not existing. If I us...

Re: no connection with Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM
Was having almost the same problem. Turned out it was not the net card nor the modules, but the kernel and net manager. A quick way to check. Reboot into always fresh. Forget about nm-applet! As you already did, in terminal as root: /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager stop /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager status...

Re: NetMan storing passwords as clear text
It's by design then...
Was reading about polkit, gnome-authentication, keyrings, dbus and ..., trying to learn a little bit about how everything comes together.
Found that file and thought it funny... for not wanting to
Thanks!

NetMan storing passwords as clear text
Hi. Porteus 3.2.2 mate-32bits. When Editing and saving a wifi connection, network manager generates a configuration file for each access point you want/edit, in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ Checking one, found the password is stored as clear test. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Shou...

Re: Porteus 3.2.2 WIFi troubles
Have it working... Kinda. :Yahoo!: Reading some thinkpad forums for old hardware, someone was suggesting to try with another kernel version. Donwnloaded vmliuz and 000-kernel.xzm from http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/porteus/i586/archive/Porteus-v3.2rc5/kernel/porteus-4.7.2/ , dropped them into /b...

Re: no connection with Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM
Hi donald OK, I've stopped and started again the NetworkManager using rc.networkmanager, but now the nm-applet (?) in the systray says: "NetworManager is not running" and "Networking disabled" I cannot reproduce this error. guest@porteus:~$ pkill nm-applet && nm-applet & work fine. The nm-applet reap...

Re: Porteus 3.2.2 WIFi troubles
Hello all! First, I apologize in advance. This one is long, but might be some useful information in it. Second let me say that I don't understand how all of you using 3.2.2-32 bits are able to connect trough wireless. Downloaded two clean iso's, mate and xfce, from: http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/dist...

Booting porteus 3.01, 3.1 and 3.2.2 from 3 identical, brand new Kingston DataTraveler G4, 8gb usb keys. All versions are Bios and Mate desktop on vfat file systems. Re: Porteus 3.2.2 WIFi troubles
Hey Donald Thanks to your suggestions, was able to discover a lot of things. I was making a mistake on the definitions of the network adapters. Don't know why yet, but sometimes, linux uses eth instead of wlan for the wireless adapter. In my particular case eth1 is the wireless. And that the firmwar...

Re: Porteus 3.2.2 WIFi troubles
Blaze, tried what you suggested. Although I don't read Russian, I assumed it has got to be the "Ignore" setting in IPv6, and got another set of problems. guest@porteus:~$ su Password: root@porteus:/home/guest# /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager restart Stopping NetworkManager: /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager: ...
