Porteus Kernel Builder

But this used to work in the past. :( Try with Porteus 4, for instance. Even early builds of Porteus 5.

Here's the output:

@neko, I haven't tried 5.2rc7, but both 5.1.15 and 5.2rc6 have a problem with aufs so we can't activate a xzm module from a system folder (e.g. /home/guest).

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems

@nanZor, in order to fix the black screen issue, please try this module (put it inside porteus/base): https://www.mediafire.com/file/gbd3r5c5 ... 2.xzm/file

Let us know if it solves your problem :)

Porteus Kernel Builder

neko, I have a suggestion for you. Instead of calling from mkKernel.sh this:

Code: Select all

make -j4
You can detect how many CPU threads the machine actually has by doing this:

Code: Select all

CPU_THREADS="$(nproc --all)"
make -j$CPU_THREADS

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the actual difference between this and the official release? :D

Yes, haveged might be a good workaround if low entropy is the reason. Thanks AcnapyxoB.
I tried, but it didn't change anything :(

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems

Video just stays black until I move and click the mouse I can reproduce this issue in one of my machines. In my case I found out somethings: 1- reverting kernel module to Porteus 4 this doesn't happen; 2- my Porteus is running from a SSD; if I boot from a USB stick this doesn't happen; 3- using LXD...

Draco 0.9.0 x86_64 (desktop environment)

Cool. I noticed that they're using just -O2 and -fPIC. My full cmake command line usually goes like this: cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS:STRING="-O2 -m64 -pipe -fPIC" -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR=lib64 .. Settings->Theme Settings does not work. Would be inte...

Updated. Now icons are shown.

jssouza, I didn't install all the packages, but simply copied some of them :)

It was just an experimental build, no pretension to make something rock solid. But, hey, qtfm and obconf-qt are there! You didn't check well :)

I'll remove the useless packages. Thanks!

Would it make sense to create a DE for Porteus?
Here we go: Draco 0.9.0 x86_64 (desktop environment)

Draco 0.9.0 x86_64 (desktop environment)

Here's an experimental module of Draco 0.9.0 x86_64. I'm running on Porteus 5 internal test build, so I'm not sure if it runs on Porteus 4: http://www.mediafire.com/file/21p0e6j0z6zzwjm/003-draco-0.9.0.xzm/file (19 MB) I didn't have time to polish it, but my impression is that this DE is still very ...
