Almost as confusing as a script by Bogomips and Ed_P. :)
Oh, great! Someone actually reading the script!
Hint: Might help to use either Geany or Kate for this. ;)

Re: USM bug reports

^ Thanks for pointing this out, Ed.

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# usm -v
You are using USM version:  3.2.0
Even though using usm 3.2.0, the number of comment lines seem to vary depending on where from it is got. Edited post to be unambigious. :%)

^ Thanks Ed. @ brokenman Edit of funcpackageGet Replace 31 with ed0 Replace 86-88 with ed1 After 345 insert ed2 Replace 368 with ed3 Confirmation Did not use SELECT ALL to copy from post, but instead highlighted with mouse in order to verify the copy. Re: video editing software (bis) for porteus 3.2

What is the use of: root@porteus:/home/guest# cp -p /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet.bak root@porteus:/home/guest# cp -p usm/funcpackageGet.hic /usr/share/usm/funcpackageGet Fact is the file can be called anything you want, but you need to get it from the bottom of this p...

Re: video editing software (bis) for porteus 3.2

^ Directed at me? Don't understand.

Question is whether ssr-0.3.8-x86_64-3_slonly.txz would meet your requirements.

Re: What would you use if Porteus was not available?

^ Have a suspicion it's to do with the linking. That the relative addresses of kernel functions would always vary from one kernel to the next. Then if driver called a function at relative address x for kernel a, the function would in kernel b not necessarily be at x, but be at y. Assuming the kernel...

@ Evan

Took a look at script. Looks sooo complicated. :%) Prefer to remain with the straight forward 14,000 host exclusions, thanx.

Re: USM bug reports

I agree bash is really fast (I could even say superfast) but my idea of changing to another "real language" is not looking for increasing speed but increasing robustness, I'm thinking about improving quality rather than improving performance. Now you can say, ok and what's quality for you? well, my...

Re: First step to Virtual Reality

there are two versions of us, the real person that works and pays taxes and there is a "virtual" version of us. Sadly our human form has no way to survive for eternity, only our virtual us can live forever. Even president Obama used a Social Security number from a person that was born in 1890. It i...

Re: [INFO & SCRIPT] Slackware Mirror Settings for USM

And I thought this was the solution. Depends on what solution is being sought. Seem to be at cross purposes here. Thought there was a requirement to put something into your script to detect files with windoze line ends, so that then this could help find out how it happened. Then of course the solut...

Re: USM bug reports

Anyway I think usm should be more robust and informative. I didn't know about how many files it use, shouldn't be a good idea to refactor it? maybe rewritting in a "real programming language"? Going by experience in writing system software at the level between the 'kernel' and user applicat...
