Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

@cttan: Here you can download the Nvidia module: http://www.kaloracing.it/linux/NVidia_346.59_Porteus_x86_64-kalo.xzm Today I read a news about the Nvidia Geforce 900 series and the missing compatibility with the FOSS driver. For this reason the new 900series Nvidia graphic cards need the proprietar...

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

@francois: that was not a problem of font size but a DPI issue. Thanks to fanthom I managed to change the DPI inside the xorg.conf and now the graphics is really ok. At the moment I don't understand why the KDE is booting without any problem and the LXQt needs to be started in text mode with the "st...

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

@fanthom: thank you, with your help I now have a good GUI on my laptop. EDIT: There is another problem: in order to start the LXQt environment I have to start Porteus in text mode, login and then send the command "startx". If I simply boot Porteus in LXQt, after the NVIDIA splash screen I have a bla...

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

Hi fanthom, my motto is never settle! Finally I'm here writing good news: I'm on Porteus v3.1, I successfully installed the latest Nvidia drivers for my graphic card GTX 980M, I copied the /mnt/live/memory/changes folder, ripped the content and make a similar structure following the stock Porteus Nv...

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

Hello fanthom, my Asus G751 does not support the dual GPU. You are right, in fact the i7 processor brings by itself an internal GPU but in this laptop model there is not the Intel Graphic Card (it's not shown in the hardware properties in Windows). Anyway I managed to bypass the triggering issue wit...

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

@fanthom

I managed to pass the triggering step and there is a new issue: X11.conf file is wrong.
Anyway I uploaded the psinfo.txt here:

Thank you always for your help!

Re: Boot issue on ASUS ROG G751

Hello, I just tried the nomodeset cheatcode and it does not help me booting Porteus. The same result with acpi=off cheatcode. I formatted again my USB drive in FAT32 and used the batch file to make it bootable. Do I need to create the EXT partition in order to use Portues? Since years ago and until ...

Re: Feedback and Bug Reports for Porteus v2.1 RC1

Hello, I'm running Porteus v2.1 RC1 x86_64 LXDE Edition. There is a little bug when you want to run the "Extract Here" command on every archive file. The "Extract To" command luckily is available and I still use this as a workaround to extract archive files. I am running Porteus from a USB (always f...

Re: Any plan for UEFI Porteus Secure Boot?

Yes, you are right, UEFI is really unuseful!
Anyway I am going to format my HDD because I find Windows 8 the new epic fail of Microsoft.
I will install Windows 7 using the legacy BIOS so I will be able to boot any Linux distro without problems.
Thank you for your help!

Any plan for UEFI Porteus Secure Boot?

Hello dear Community, I'm using Porteus also in a new laptop (Acer V3-571G) which is provided by the new UEFI Secure Boot. If I want to boot Porteus from my USB flash drive I need to load at first the "Legacy BIOS" and then, after a reboot of the machine, I could be able to boot Porteus. Since I use...
