Re: LXDE: PCManFM freezes all the time

Your new module works fine so far: no freezes yet today. I hope this will hold. If not, I'll let you know. Thank you so much! The only feedback is that it (currently?) comes with a quite basic appearance and I can't really change the theme as I used to in the old LXDE. But if that's the price to pay...

Re: LXDE: PCManFM freezes all the time

OK, PCManFM now started crashing as frequently as before. I no longer suspect Wine or anything else as a direct cause. I'm going to try your new module now (after it actually finishes with "Upload still in progress…"). Thanks. Previously, an updated module provided by @ncmprhnsbl in File Manager fo...

Re: LXDE: PCManFM freezes all the time

PCManFM (and libfm) still appear to be updated. Perhaps my issue is also reported here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm/+bug/1782984 However their current solution to downgrade the menu-cache to 1.0.1 doesn't apply because it is already: /mnt/live/memory/images/003-lxde.xzm/var/log/...

Re: LXDE: PCManFM freezes all the time

@fulalas, Any upgrades since then, do you know? Or should I maybe downgrade to an older version?
No additional reports on the terminal (ctrl + alt + f1). A wild guess is LXDE might not like my disks: the host disk is NVMe SSD and I use two USB sticks.

LXDE: PCManFM freezes all the time

It's now gotten worse: impossible to use PCManFM as it constantly hangs and I have to restart it by clicking its pinned taskbar icon. Occasionally even Leafpad and terminal application crash. I'm trying Openbox and it works okay, so whatever LXDE puts on top breaks it. Maybe LXSession, PCManFM or li...

Intel Wireless WiFi: no firmware for iwlwifi [Solved]

I'm booting into an old laptop, and while the old Porteus 2.1 picks up WiFi no problem, the new Porteus 4.0 doesn't even offer a wireless device anymore! Although, it does recognize the hardware correctly, as per lspci output, as "Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300", kernel in use: iwlwifi. Now, that iw...

Openbox ignores login=root

Thanks @ncmprhnsbl , your fix works. By the way, should I use the official module or your other one 003-box-64-20180321.xzm ? Also, what's your reasons for using Openbox instead of LXDE, for example? How is it better overall? (I know why I'm looking to replace LXDE: its file manager, terminal, etc o...

Openbox ignores login=root

1. Install the official openbox ISO
2. modify the /boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg or specify at the startup "login=root"
3. GUI boots into guest account anyway
4. Simply replace the openbox module with the 003-lxde and Reboot successfully into root GUI.

Is this a restriction of the Openbox DE?

LyX 2.3.0 [Solved]

@jssouza, Thank you once again: the new module works by replacing the old one, with spellchecker etc. and no problems so far.

LyX 2.3.0 [Solved]

@jssouza , thanks for your LyX module it's been working great. They are now rolling out Lyx 2.3.1 https://www.lyx.org/Download . When/if you get a bit time could you update your module. Or else, teach me how you do this. If I'm capable of it at all, it felt like a quite sensitive process, getting t...

File Manager for LXDE

@ncmprhnsbl , @n0ctilucient , thanks: both polo and xfe work nice and seem like good alternatives. (Except, Polo has an annoying red banner warning about being root; xfe displays a message box about it each time it starts). Actually, pcmanfm-1.3.0 has been stable so far with the old libfm (with the...

File Manager for LXDE

I'm looking for alternatives or even to replace PCManFM 1.2.5 as a (default) FM for LXDE, because PCMan crashes/freezes for me on a daily basis. Even if it's a desktop system fault, and not of PCMan per se, I'm interested in what other FM are out there. I guess it'd have to play nicely with LXDE, wi...

ERROR when drag and drop from browser to the desktop/folder

Drag-n-drop from Firefox still doesn't work. Dragging a link from Firefox address bar, an image from a web page, etc, onto a folder of PCManFM or desktop fails without any message just bounces off. Dragging a link from Firefox address bar into an text file open in Leafpad actually works, adding a te...

snap (snapd)

ncmprhnsbl , thanks for the pdfshuffler-0.6.0+deps-x86_64.xzm. It works and crops! Which is remarkable given the time I've spent so far just trying to even install (prerequisites to) another python program, krop. It freezes often when I click too much on the GUI, so needs a fresh restart every now ...
