Caja - Unmount USB stick failed

If you are writing to a removable drive or have written to or deleted from a removable drive files removing the drive without safely removing it will result in the file or files being corrupted or the whole drive corrupted if the file allocation directory gets corrupted. If the removable drive has n...

Porteus Download Mirror Not Working

I just downloaded the 5.0 rc1 cinnamon from the frugalware mirror. I think the problem is on your end teddybear.

5.0 is a work in progress, I recommend you use one of the 4.0 systems.

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems

Beware! rc1 doesn't have a Suspend power option for closing the lid of a notebook! Thus overnight with the lid closed anything left running continues to run and the battery dies, any changes die with it and the porteussave.dat file becomes corrupted . The default setting is Do nothing. Shutdown is ...

from iso porteus: how to get modules mounted?

True, and if the menu still works with them commented out then they can be deleted. If the menu fails to boot you simply remove the # signs in the front of the lines to resolve the problem. :)

from iso porteus: how to get modules mounted?

Try your menu with a # sign in front of these 3 lines.

Code: Select all

    insmod part_msdos
    insmod ext2
    set root=(hd0,5)

from iso porteus: how to get modules mounted?

We are both using grub2 so the syntax shouldn't be that different, I think some of your code is from grub4dos. One of my goals is to be able to move the menus to a different netbook with a different harddrive structure and not have to make a lot of changes to them. Another is to have a system my gra...

from iso porteus: how to get modules mounted?

I suggest you create a folder, on the drive the isos folder is on, name it porteus4.0 and in it create a folder named Modules. Then you can use a grub2 menu like mine. set timeout=30 # Set the default variable to the submenu entry you prefer set default=1 set linux_folder=/porteus4.0 set extramods="...

(solved) INIT: Id "x1" respawning too fast

Why an NTFS partition! :o FAT32 or exFAT are better choices for removable devices. Less overhead, no journaling, better performance.

And I encounter the boot problem if Windows isn't shutdown before booting to Porteus. I multiboot using Grub2Win.
