Re: UEFI problem

brokenman wrote:You can return the USB to it's former glory by using the commands:
parted /dev/sdX
mklabel msdos
quit

Then partition it using gparted or whatever your tool of preference is.
Doing this and rerunning the script would be a lot easier if Fresh mode wasn't required. Why is it required?

Re: UEFI problem

You may want to try replacing 3 files on the UEFI USB with files from the standard Porteus 64bit ISO. I don't recall right now if the recompiled kernel was only needed to support the secure boot. You can test to see. Mount the ISO you have been booting from (as root): mloop /path/to/Porteus-v2.1-x8...

Re: UEFI problem

Please open a console and nuke the USB device: parted /dev/sdb mklabel msdos quit Now use gparted to partition your disk as one single FAT32 partition. Then rerun my script. Ok You MUST use 64bit porteus. I was just trying to see why the name of the app changed. PS: When it asks you to enter the de...

Re: UEFI problem

Newbie question, how do I, or can I signoff of Guest and signon as Root without rebooting? If you are indeed in Razor there should be a logout in the user menu. The when you get to the slim login manager screen you enter: root as user and toor as password. If you want to force it you can use the ke...

Re: UEFI problem

Ok, the problem most certainly running the script after booting from an ISO. Please hold on while I tweak the script to work under these conditions. No problem, and thank you for looking into this. But I'm not sure the booting from an ISO is the cause of the problem with creating a 2nd partition on...

Re: Cheatcodes - What codes and boot options can be combined

New to Porteus (and fairly green when it comes to Linux in general), but liking it so far! One of the most user friendly distros I have tested, Me too, both Porteus and Linux, and I agree. If I was head of this distro I wouldn't default the wizard to Razor however, as it seems like a fairly immatur...

Re: UEFI problem

@EdP download here: http://dl.porteus.org/x86_64/current/ Thank donald . I downloaded the 64-bit Razor ISO, deleted the porteus folder on the flash drive, copied the new 64bit porteus folder from the ISO to the flash drive, rebooted and got similar errors whether I used the 8952-182C UUID or the 53...

Re: UEFI problem

Ok, I changed the UUID for the Fresh option to 8952-182C and left the others set to 53B8-7FD3. When I boot the flash drive and select Fresh I get: searching for ....sgn file device not ready, waiting 6 seconds from cheatcode= is incorrect ..... When I boot the flash drive and select RAM I get: searc...

Re: UEFI problem

@ EdP In one of your posts you show your UUID: /dev/sdb1: LABEL="PORTEUSUEFI" UUID="8952-182C" TYPE="vfat" I will assume that the USB drive you created with one FAT partition is the same device. I will also assume that the file structure is as you wrote: EFI (containing the EFI boot files and a fol...

Re: UEFI problem

No change. Booting still can't find the ....sgn file.

A related question, the refind.conf files have parms for 4 bootstrap menu items but the bootstap menu shows 5 items. Saved, RAM, Fresh, Text plus a unlabeled Penguin. What controls the Penguin's options?
