Re: There is something disturbing with usm

I don't get that error when I use USM. Try rebooting, that should clear the /tmp folder.

I do not have xdg-runtime-guest/gvfs in my /tmp folder.

Just the one in System tools->Porteus modules option. I should call it screen better than browser...
But if the Porteus Modules app excluded trash files it could be excluding modules still active and maybe files that shouldn't be there. ;)

Re: Disable module and send to trash

on sending an active module to the trash the system shouldn't deactivate it first? It's up to the user to do before moving or deleting the module. OTOH, the Porteus modules browser has an option to not show modules sent to the trash? Not that I am aware of but then again I never move files to trash...

Re: Problems posting to Porteus chat...

Still getting the "SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data" error when the mChat window is displayed and unable to post into mChat even with all the prior postings gone. :%)

Re: Disable dpms

Interesting results donald.

Using Google with dpms site:forum.porteus.org I get 93 results and with site:forum.porteus.org dpms I get 74 results. A difference yes but not like yours.

Re: Disable dpms

Yes, searching isn't working and still getting the JSON errors even with mchat empty and the reply box suppressed.

Use a search engine and add this to the search: site=forum.porteus.org It works with Google and DuckDuckGo.

Try site=forum.porteus.org dpms site:forum.porteus.org dpms

where do I need to make the change, in boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg?
Yes but initially I would try them by editing the menu when it displays. That way you can try the changes to ensure they work.

Installing Porteus to SSD

It sounds like the boot menu isn't pointing to the partition you installed Porteus to. Before selecting it edit the APPEND hd0 1 parms.

[Solved] Security Boot Fail

:D Oh if only it were that easy. I tried, ie booted and rebooted, many possibilities over the past 2 days. Screw something up and the machine boots to Windows when in Secure Boot mode, get it to work in Secure Boot mode, disable it and it fails in disable mode.
