mount.cifs and umount work. :worship: Thank you guys. :beer:

Minor question, the Windows 7 system doesn't require a signon, mount.cifs asks for a password regardless. I tried pass= and pass="" but neither worked. Suggestion.

:) the crux of your problem is this "Without adding anything to it". And is that "it" your Windows box, your Linux one or both? The Windows 7 box. It works as is with Windows 10. From Linux you should be able to access that share via "mount -t cifs ..." and upload to it without adding anything to ei...

:lol: Because burdi01 I can transfer files to it when I boot to Windows on my notebook. And IMO if I can do it in Windows I should be able to do it in Linux. Without adding anything to it. ;)

Thank you Blaze. I use TightVNC's vncviewer on Porteus to connect to the RealVNC VNC Server (user) on the Windows pc. Access is great, I just need a more convenient way to upload files to it without having to reboot from Porteus to Windows 10 to do it. :(

Porteus saves all changes in RAM and they are lost when you reboot. Saving changes with the changes= cheatcode requires a mounted device and it remains mounted until you reboot. If you read the /boot/docs/cheatcodes.txt you might find more options. An option that I use that might solve your problem ...

Not if you can boot in AF mode, which includes the DE. What cheatcodes are used in your AF mode? And what modules do you have in your modules directory?
