(Solved) Not saving in v2.0 xfce, no flash for youtube

I have different frugal installations for Porteus on my HD: Version 1.2 xfce works fine, saves changes and updates. Flash for youtube videos work. Version 2.0 xfce is not saving updates or changes. Flash does not work. My menu.lst entry: title Porteus-XFCE-v2.0 kernel (hd0,0)/Porteus-XFCE-v2.0/boot/...

Thanks for the reply but it didn't launch from the root console either with that command!

So, is there an easy fix for this module or do I content myself with Firefox?

(Solved) Chromium fails to launch as guest

I made a frugal install to HD of Porteus XFCE v2.0 32-bit, downloaded chromium-25.0.1323.1-i686-1sl.xzm via the PPM to folder Porteus-XFCE-v2.0/porteus/optional and added extramod cheatcode pointing to that folder. The module loads at bootup and is in the menu but fails to execute. I am not saving c...

Re: Feedback for Porteus version 2.0 RC1

@Sagittarius Exec=/opt/porteus-scripts/xorg/psu "/opt/porteus-scripts/porteus-settings-centre" Please try changing this line to: Exec=ktsuss porteus-settings-centre Perhaps the authentication package (ktsuss) is grumpy about being passed through a script. Brokenman, both your line and Ahau's code b...

Re: Feedback for Porteus version 2.0 RC1

@ Ahau, thanks for the reply. When I inserted your code, the Settings Centre started up OK. Here is the output: root@porteus:/# cat /usr/share/applications/gtk-porteus-settings-centre.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Porteus Settings Centre Exec=/opt/porteus-scripts/xorg/psu "/opt/porteus-scripts/porteu...

Re: Feedback for Porteus version 2.0 RC1

I just booted into Porteus 2.0 Xfce 32-bit running from a Windows XP C: partition (according to instructions from the Lin n Win project) and my menu.lst code is: title Porteus XFCE v2.0 rc1 kernel (hd0,0)/porteus_xfce_v2.0_rc1/boot/syslinux/vmlinuz from=/linux-ISO/Porteus-XFCE-v2.0-rc1-i486.iso nosw...

Re: [HOWTO] frugal (hd) install without modifying Windows lo

Yes, your link is the one where I found the instructions. My menu.lst on this machine (WinXP) is as follows (as you see I boot LupuLibre and Mofo Linux too). The Lin N Win project gives you a menu.lst for Puppy but I copied the other titles elsewhere. ################################################...

Re: [HOWTO] frugal (hd) install without modifying Windows lo

I too have Windows XP Pro on one machine and Windows 98 on another and am dual booting both from a Porteus folder (after extracting the iso) on my C: drive following the instructions of the Lin 'N' Win Project - great for newbies to Linux like me :) I was then able to find on the internet a menu.lst...

Re: Porteus-1.2 feedback

@Sagittarius, If you are using saved changes or have not rebooted, then this is probably because the ~/.retrovolrc config file has not been refreshed--sorry for not mentioning this in the original instructions for the patch. Please try to remove this file: rm ~/.retrovolrc then, log out of xfce and...

Re: Porteus-1.2 feedback

@ Ahau, I also have the same problem with Retroval that secipolla mentioned: I downloaded the module and it reported that it was correctly activated but it made no difference to the sound.

Re: Flash in Firefox - Porteus v1.2

Hi Ahau,

I downloaded your 32-bit file following the instructions and I confirm that videos now work in version 1.2, so that was the solution. Thanks!

[Solved] Flash in Firefox - Porteus v1.2

I have both Porteus v1.1 and v1.2 Xfce installed on HD. Version 1.1 plays youtube videos outright in Firefox with no problem whereas v 1.2 does not: when I press the "play" arrow on the video the screen goes blank and nothing happens.
Any ideas?
