Boot a USB Porteus flash drive in a VirtualBox

I understand Oracle does not allow USB boots with VirtualBox. (Y/N?) Has anyone booted a USB Porteus flash drive in a VirtualBox?

Re: USM for Slackware 14.1 proper

roadie, I'm sure you're correct about the psu & gnsu. I just remember the recent ssh problem and him directing folks to the PSU mirror for the immediate patch. The space was most likely an accident. I'll look into psu & gnsu sometime soon. Right now I'm beat and sleepy. Thanks for your kind words, S...

USM for Slackware 14.1 proper

This is about using USM in a standard Slackware 14.1 environment which I have installed on a separate box to learn with. I'm learnin. The desktop environment is Xfce4, the default DE for Slackware. Here I have a root account and a user account. I logged out as "user" and logged in as "root". Then we...

Re: Warning: Nokia sold to Microsoft!

So, sorry, but I was not aware of what a mullet haircut was, had to google it. And low and behold, there's your avatar :-) If that ain't "cool", I don't know what is :-) Freestyler, I do envy your anonymous lifestyle, please write a "How To" book. Seriously. In the meantime, let us leave brokenman o...

Re: Warning: Nokia sold to Microsoft!

@freestyler,

You must be die-hard anti-microsoft also. Me too! Never used it. Only DOS, OS/2, and Linux.

Ga-Day to ya !

Sean

PS - Glad to hear the you KDE fella's won't be affected either. We're all happy.

Re: Warning: Nokia sold to Microsoft!

Phheeewww!

Thanks, fanthom & brokenman, for setting this straight. I had been saying bad words for over an hour, and my mom was threatening to wash my mouth out with soap :-(

Feeling much better now :-)

Re: Warning: Nokia sold to Microsoft!

Hearing that makes me sick. And I "was" so looking forward to LxQt.

I was an OpenSUSE user until Novel started dealing with Microsoft, dropped like a hot potato and went with Debian.

Hopefully Porteus can live on with Openbox perhaps by itself.

There ya go! Compiled from all the above ideas.

Must download one .iso first,

activate it (harddrive, USB drive, or CD), then use it for,

unlimited use of the wizard app via local scripting supplied with each .iso.

Re: Porteus 3.0 final feedback

@brokenman

Thanks for the kind reply. Golly I know you fellas are extremely busy.

I simply did a web-search for the file and DL'd it from pkgs.org/Slackware 14.1/Slackel. Then used txz2xzm.

I'm smiling,

Re: Porteus 3.0 final feedback

Using Porteus 3.0 LXDE i486 This is a beautiful piece of work Porteus Team! Here's one problem I've run into though, USM search shows: guvcview-1.7.3-i486-1dj.txz 219k salix When I click on it and then click "download", it starts processing, then stops with this: "fatal error" could not find: LIBS.T...

Re: Porteus changing distro

fanthom,

Thanks, had to be logged in, of course :-)

I will now take some time off so as to get the egg off my face and pound my head with a hammer for several weeks.

I often wonder about myself :-)

Great Day to everyone and please accept my apology,

Re: Porteus changing distro

Friends, Am I missing something? I'm assuming a vote is cast via a "reply" to this thread. Correct? The thread shows 18 votes with only 17 posts. Several of the "replies" although perhaps "mentioning" a distro name, are merely explanations and answers to questions. By my count the poll should actual...
