Re: Do you use an email client?

Between your ISP-Mail-Server and your Mail-Client there can be "PoptrayMinus".

Re: Do you use an email client?

I use both But, until just last year I used only a Local email client. At this time I use only POP3, along with my favorite "watcher/deleter" application "PoptrayMinus". I may be very wrong in my assumption, and now off topic here, but it is my understanding that IMAC allows you to download your ema...

Re: Porteus 3.1rc1 feedback

RE: LXQt-32bit, Porteus 3.1-rc1 I notice under pcmanfm/Edit/Preferences/Behavior/Browsing, the option to "Open files with a single click" is grayed out/inactive. If there is no overwhelming reason against it, could this be activated ? Only because I've been around for a while did I come across openi...

Re: Porteus 3.1rc1 feedback

RE: LXQt-32bit, Porteus 3.1-rc1 I'll probably be in error on some reports simply because I'm no guru at this, so forgive me please. I've noticed remaining GUI configuration/setup duplication with some apps. Don't know if this is us, LXQt, or OpenBox. System Tools and Preferences has, however, been w...

Re: Why can't I see $1?

Ed_P, As I mentioned, I have extremely little knowledge of scripts .............. or ........... most anything:-) But looking again at your original post the top line reads #!/bin/sh and I'm not familiar with that heading for a bash script. Perhaps you are using something else, but my understanding ...

Re: Why can't I see $1?

Ed_P,

I know absolutely nothing about what you are doing, however, on the first "echo" line of the script, the second PRESENTER has only one "S".

That's about the extent of my knowledge :-)

Re: USM Unified Slackware Package Manager

@brokenman, You know the fella that did the review perhaps was in a hurry or something. francois has made a good point about an activation probe. Most distro's do an automatic install after a download, but we don't. I would suggest giving a day or so of thought to how you wish to word any instructio...

Re: DistroWatch Weekly, Issue 575, 8 September 2014 - Porteu

FYI +

Allow some time for a stroll through the comments (at the bottom) of this DistroWatch Weekly and find some additional praise for Porteus.

In addition the "comments" are full of "systemd" arguments and links.

Re: Porteus Pantheon Edition

@ donald,

Right on, I agree 100% about "systemd"!

Red Hat's effort to become the de facto "Microsoft" of "Linux"

As far as Pantheon goes, it looks like "wread" and "brokenman" have the correct idea.

@ Ed_P,

Agreed, I did do that when I got the abiword.xzm from ponce.cc yesterday. Thanks for mentioning the idea here.

Re: Abiword = 315 MB ?

Please allow me to reply to myself :-) It occurred to me that my initial post in this thread may be misinterpreted as being facetious or ill intended. It most certainly was not posted to be taken that way. I was indeed making a Porteus flash drive for a friend, and I was downloading some packages vi...

Abiword = 315 MB ?

I'm working on a usb stick for a friend. Using Porteus 3 LXDE 32 bit. Have updated USM and all databases therein. In trying to install Abiword the search returned 3 package options (slacky, salix, and ponce) in varying sizes. The search also returned an Abiword-docs pkg. I selected the pkg from ponc...
