Re: Poptray Minus for Porteus

Hamza, Fantastic, and "Thank You" very much for your efforts in making Poptray Minus a new module for Porteus. It works perfectly! I even created a ".desktop" file and put it in the startup folder, and that works perfectly also, shows up in the notification area of the desktop panel. And I've alread...

Re: Poptray Minus for Porteus

Hello Hamza, and brokenman, I'm humbled by your kind offers to help me compile poptrayminus. My compiling experience is very limited, having done it once or twice successfully when I had the correct libraries installed. So, yes, I accept, and thank you both! The Poptray Minus homepage is located her...

Re: Poptray Minus for Porteus

Thanks brokenman, for all your efforts on my behalf. This is strange. Do you have two sound cards? No sir, only one. I was able to follow your lead and download, and convert from .txz to .xzm the gvfs file. I need to study the trash situation a bit as it still gives me the same error message(s). PS:...

Re: Poptray Minus for Porteus

brokenman, I tried, per your suggestion, last evening without success with Poptray Minus. 99% of the problem is me and my lack of knowledge in doing this type of work. Eventually, I went back to Porteus home and started reading, and reading, etc. I have lots yet to read. You folks have some wonderfu...

Re: Poptray Minus for Porteus

brokenman, Thanks for the reply on Poptray Minus. I'll give your suggestion a try, sometime today, I hope. I'm using the LXDE desktop, 32-bit, as you and "fanthom" helped me with a few days ago. Running a PNY 4GB USB flash drive with 2 partitions. sdc1, ext3, 1GB, has Porteus-2.0-rc2 with the LXDE.x...

Poptray Minus for Porteus

PopTray Minus is a notification area application for checking and notifying of new mail in your web account(s).

Allows the user to delete mail at the ISP.

This is a great tool for portability use. Can it be made into a module for Porteus?

Please,

Re: In favor of LXDE

brokenman, Thank you for the offer of walking me through making LXDE my default desktop. At this time I think I'll defer on that in lieu of the arrival of the actual 2.0 distribution. You folks seem extremely willing to help in any way. That appeals to your clients, I'm certain, as it does me. And y...

Re: In favor of LXDE

WOW !! brokenman and fanthom, Thank you for your extreme kindness in replying to my initial post on the subject of LXDE being in the boot menu of Porteus. I suspected including LXDE was not as easy as a layman such as myself might envision. So, thank you, fanthom, for your layman level explanation. ...

Re: In favor of LXDE

Brokenman, Thank you kindly for the reply, I do appreciate your every effort. I will need to digest the information you have provided, since being a Guru, with a smile, is a bit out of my reach. I have installed Porteus v1.2 on a USB stick with the Xfce DE. I was hoping to do the same with v2.0 and ...

In favor of LXDE

Friends !!!, This is one fantastic distro. It causes me dreams, literally, as I have been following it for about a year now. Would you please consider offering separate distros of LXDE, Xfce, KDE, etc., or create a Live Distro "Menu" allowing one to select the different Desktop Environments. As long...

Re: Xfce-v1.2 Time Zone can't be changed

Hello Ahau, Thank you kindly for the quick response to my post. I could very easily be "behind the times", so to speak, because this is the response resulting from your suggestion, using Terminal: guest@porteus:~/Desktop$ su timeconfig Unknown id: timeconfig guest@porteus:~/Desktop$ su Password: roo...

[SOLVED] Xfce-v1.2 Time Zone can't be changed

Using Porteus Xfce-v1.2 and loving it on a USB stick.

However, I can find no way to set the time zone, therefore my panel time is UTC, but I'm in the usa EDT.

Thanks,

Pumbaa2, Tried Proteus for the first time yesterday with the Xfce DE. Sweet!! I've already installed it to a USB stick, and I love it. Just, only, please, tell me how I can adjust the Time Zone. I have searched here on the forum and it looks like this may be a bug that's never been addressed. Howeve...
