Re: 3.2rc5 and Chromium

As I said at the top of this thread, I've been using chromium-52.0.2743.116-i486-1alien.xzm which is a 32-bit build that works just fine. I get that they don't "officially" support it, but until it actually stops working, I'm not going to go rebuilding the rest of a mature and robust existing softwa...

Re: 3.2rc5 and Chromium

Unfortunately, I need to stay at 32-bit (I don't want to re-build the entire software stack I'm using), and that command says it only works with 64-bit.

Re: 3.2rc5 on Intel NUC6i7KYK

That's a really poorly written page. I originally thought it was saying the chipset was unstable, but now I think it's saying that if I have a 4.6 kernel or later, it should work just fine. And it appears that 3.2rc5 is using Linux 4.7.2, right? So I'm not sure why it isn't working. (Note that I hav...

3.2rc5 and Chromium

I tried chromium-53.0.2785.92-i486-1alien (the 14.2 build) in 3.2rc5 and it's dying because it cannot find libavahi-common.so.3 Obviously, I can go hunt that and any dependencies it has down, but since chromium builds from http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/chromium/pkg were working clean o...

3.2rc5 on Intel NUC6i7KYK

I just tried 3.2rc5 on an Intel NUC6i7KYK and it doesn't work. The symptom is that the screen blinks on and off complaining about add/remove commands in xorg, but I suspect the actual reason is that the graphics chipset just isn't supported by the Intel drivers you are using. Any workaround ideas sh...

Trying to Disable USB 3, no luck

I have found that on some hardware, booting Porteus from a USB 3 drive is not working very reliably, and so I'd like to be able to disable USB 3 support in the linux kernel. But I don't really want to have to rebuild the kernel to get there, if I can avoid it. I've figured out where to put kernel co...

Re: Building Chromium from Source

I will! But NPAPI support went away in 35, so I'm probably screwed. I'm pretty sure the next step is for me to just bite the bullet and create the functionality I need using native message APIs instead of a plugin.

Re: Building Chromium from Source

Hmph. Well it turns out that the patch I found which alleged to re-enable NPAPI support doesn't actually work. So after all that, I have a brand-spanking-new clean build that still doesn't support NPAPI plugins. Grrr. Making a porteus module you could install would actually be a lot of work, because...

Re: Building Chromium from Source

It's still crunching along. The following things were missing from Slackware 14.1: pulseaudio json-c PAM (I had to add #include <sys/resource.h> to one file to get this to compile) Also, there were a couple files in the chromium source that include gssapi.h that I had to change to gss/api.h The othe...

Re: Building Chromium from Source

I already found a patch that purports to add NPAPI support back in for linux (it's just one ifdef change). I'd rather be up-to-date with Chromium if possible, which is why I want to try building with that patch. (This has nothing to do with Flash. I need NPAPI for a different plugin that makes chrom...

Building Chromium from Source

I have to rebuild chromium from source (I need to turn NPAPI support back on). I got the sources, but immediately ran into a dependency problem (porteus not including python is the first one I hit). Before I start the process of building all my dependencies from sources, would it make more sense to ...

Thanks.
