Re: USM dependency...

@fullmoonremix "can it convert to .xzm (txz2xzm) or does it use only .txz" No, It was written as an alternative to slackpkg from what I remember and is used in managing files in a slackware distro by installing, removing, and upgrading packages. I use slackpkg so I have not had a lot of experience w...

Re: No txz2dir in 3.1 Porteus ?

you should be root to do the following; First create a directory where you want to install the txz pkg mkdir /tmp/mytxz Then in the same directory where the txz file is located do this; ROOT="/tmp/mytxz" installpkg "txz filename" replace "tmp/mytxz" with your directory name, less quotes and the same...

Re: USM dependency...

Does it use the same repos as USM? I believe it only uses the slackware repository for the distro installed. Can it be integrated into xfe (Fox toolkit) file manager? It is a CLI so if you can write custom commands for xfe then probably yes. Does it make .xzm or .txz modules? To my knowledge, no.

Re: Connman problems...

Do you have wpa_supplicant installed, it is an optional dependency for wifi support as is bluez if you want bluetooth support. Only other thing I see is the need to disable any other network configurations before enabling the service.

Re: Porteus or linux discontent

@rchase This is the maddening reality of Linux as a universal PC OS: the main developer of Linux as an alternative to Windows suggests that PCs which have successfully suspended and resumed running Windows from XP on with consistency (if not absolute consistency -- I don't know) are somehow at fault...

Re: USM dependency...

I also see a directory under "/usr/share/usm" with helper scripts you would need if you are moving it to another system.

Re: USM dependency...

USM is a bash script basically. It uses gtkdialog for the gui and depending on which dm you are using it looks for kdesu, gksu, or ktsuss.

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

@alexgorr Which version of 3.2rc4 are you using for the missing python modules? porteus-v3.2rc4 is based on slackware 14.2 and many things have changed. I would not recommend using the old packages from v3.1. There is a new command to retrieve packages from slackware called "getpkg". Read some of th...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

@Blaze The problem may be in the porteus scripts and not nemo actions. according to GitHub, nemo actions can escape spaces on their own by adding this to the file; Quotes=double and/or EscapeSpaces=true. I tried various combinations of both with the install slackware package action, nothing worked. ...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

Blaze, I saw the wacom driver message on mine and all I can think of is it has built in wacom network support in one of the cinnamon-settings applets and is doing a check for all network cards attached to the computer and is unable to do a wacom verification because of the missing driver. I don't th...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

I switched to the cinnamon 64bit porteus just now and when I run the command on mine as you did I receive the ntp error (network time ) , mine however goes ahead and sets it to Europe/London and displays the screen. Mine is a clean usb install with only the 05-devel.xzm package installed and the cri...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

You should be able to do ls /mnt/sda5/BudSmart_Linux/"Porteus 3.2" (add quotes around Porteus 3.2) and have it work. If you tried to use mkdir /mnt/sda5/BudSmart_Linux/Porteus 3.2 you may find you have one dir called Porteus and one called 3.2. If the string contains a space you have to enclose it i...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc4 bug reports

If you are talking about a usb 3G modem like a Pantech UML295 then it is because ModemManager broke in 14.1 and has continued in 14.2. You can fix the problem in 14.1 by down grading to the slackware 14.0 ModemManager, NetworkManager, and network-manager-applet. This was the only way I was able to m...

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc3 Bug Reports

cinnamon v3.2rc3 32 bit This is more question relating to you upgrading cinnamon to 3.0.2. I noticed that you are not using the newer python3 which Willy Sudiarto is in his git. This is actually the first thing compiled. Could this possibly be reason some features such as cinnamon-menu-editor might ...
