I am new to Porteus, and only noticed a few things I would like to see changed. 1. I prefer a more complete installer such as is used in the ubuntu derivatives, with Grub or Grub2 boot manager. 2. I prefer a more robust video player such as VLC 3. I would like to have more choices for the background...

I would prefer the suggestion of Tome

1) Something like wubi (ubuntu/mint) installer could be good option for new Windows incomers

Using grub or grub2 can be compatible with booting multiple operating systems such as Windows and other Linux distros

Boot Failures

I just downloaded "Porteus-v1.0-i486.iso" and tried the boot CD on several computers. It ran fine on a DELL PowerEdge sc420, but it failed to complete the boot sequence on the following computers: DELL Dimension 2400 (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz) DELL Optiplex GX260 (Pentium 4 2.66 GHz) Compaq Presario SR1910...
