My Mate build Porteus Base files

@Ed_P - Why doesn't this f***ing quote your reply? 3rd time I am trying to send this. It just won't quote your reply. Very annoying. Thks - but what "new 003-Mate module"? We are talking about my/your own build, not a 003-Mate module, Or do you mean to say this new build, after having changed it int...

MATE on 3.2.2 has 2 versions of gcalculator installed

Sorry, correct name is galculator, version is 3.1.4, not 3.14.

Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Porteus 4.0 on multiboot USB does not boot

But IMHO the problem does not lie with YUMI, as I do get the Porteus boot menu. It's just that clicking on the standard (or "fresh") boot option does not result in booting and the countdown just starts anew and repeats endlessly.

Porteus 4.0 on multiboot USB does not boot

ok, if you're seeing the porteus boot screen, it might be safe to assume the problem isn't with YUMI(for now) what exactly happens after that? what should appear: 1.a message about searching for (and finding porteus files) 2.modules loading 3.auto login to guest 4. init4 (which starts Xorg(and GUI ...

I built my Mate 1.20 and it built for Porteus-4.0rc4-x86_64.iso and it works great to.
Sorry off-topic maybe but would you advise me to build too my own MATE and why? If so, is it easy to replace the standard desktop in my live USB with this new build?

MATE on 3.2.2 has 2 versions of gcalculator installed

I use 3.2.2 with MATE on a live USB. Whenever I use Slackpkg to upgrade modules, it also tells me I have 2 different versions of gcalculator - 3.14 and 3.15 if I remember correctly, so I always remove 3.14. Did nobody else ever notice this? Am I the only user who did? This is puzzling. I almost neve...

Why does vs 3.2.2 with MATE have an old version of Transmission installed?

Porteus-3.2 had Transmission vs 1.9.1 or 1.9.2 installed (the latest versions, still is at this moment).

So why does 3.2.2 have Transmission 1.8.4 installed? I have to update it with Slackpkg every time I boot my live USB.

It doesn't make sense.

Are these MATE issues?

I guess these are MATE issues, so I'll post them here. Feel free to tell me if they aren't and I will another thread in the appropriate sub-forum. I have been using Porteus for years, when it was still vs 3.1. I have since migrated through succeeding versions, up to 3.2.2 now (always as live USBs I ...

Porteus 4.0 on multiboot USB does not boot

Contrary to MultiBootISOs which used grub to boot ISO files directly from USB, YUMI uses syslinux to boot extracted distributions stored on the USB device, and reverts to using grub to Boot Multiple ISO files from USB, if necessary. Are you booting an extracted/installed Porteus system or an ISO? A...

EFI or BIOS system?

Partition structure of the USB drive?

Show the grub menu item.
BIOS on Samsung netbook.
USB drive has fat 32.
AFAIK YUMI does not use grub but syslinux or isolinux.

Porteus 4.0 on multiboot USB does not boot

By 'in a loop' you mean it reboots? No, it doesn't. I do get the YUMI multiboot menu allowing me to choose which OS I want to boot and when I click on Porteus, I then get the expected Porteus options for booting, but when the 10-second countdown is finished, it starts over again, without end. Do yo...

Firefox Quantum

I was using 52.9.esr and the tabs were loading painfully slowly. After I updated to quantum (60.-something esr) it worked very fast. So yes, there was a vast improvement in performance.

Edit: 5.2.8.1, not 5.29

Porteus 4.0 on multiboot USB does not boot

I have Porteus 4.0 MATE on a USB stick as a live boot system, using YUMI. The system does not boot however. I get the boot menu but it doesn't boot, all that happerns is the countdown starts anew and goes on and on in a loop. What could be the problem here? I am using YUMI for other multiboot USB st...
