What is the minimum memory required as you are updating the whole filesystem My old HP with 6 Gb RAM updates without problems, but I'm pretty sure 4Gb should be fine, provided you boot with base_only (i.e. no other modules loaded in memory). Should you run out of memory, just try to make some room ...

Make sure to switch to another known to work resolution first (e.g. one that is natively supported by your monitor)
Indeed. Beware of mixing resolutions with unsupported frequency modes from your monitor vendor.

Great stuff!

are you trying to look at them as guest? Ah, I see. Didn't check that. Can you let me know when you get update-base finish? So I can update 05-devel. I will :) didn't get a chance to update the ISOs, need to compile a new kernel Will look into it. Would it be valid if I include a 5.15 series one?

reminder: use the alias "pmod" to make modules, so as to avoid installing to the live system (eg. pmod <packagename>) pmod is a must. Thanks for it. After downloading and checking the md5sum, I've found that scripts under /usr/local/sbin seems to be binaries/corrupted. Does it only happen to me?

[HOWTO] Tweaking mc's user menu - folder compression

There's also lbzip2, pbzip2 and pigz . All of them use parallel compression.

I've been using pigz for years, but I like your approach.

(I renamed the 000- module)
If I recall, there is some script in initrd expecting a '000-kernel.xzm' module. Maybe the Networkmanager error comes from there.

My question when it created the changes directory could that have something to do with it? It seems your changes module/space is being overwritten somehow. Maybe you are using a module that launches a routine to do it... I think you should isolate module by module and see what happens. The changes-...

next step i change the kernel version...
For kernel, you can use directly any APorteus kernel.

I'm using Linux porteus 5.15.2-porteus by now. And I see now 5.15.3 it's available.

Thanks to neko & blaze for their support on this. ;)

Remastering Nemesis (howto)

This is an attempt to demystify Nemesis updates. As you can see in this thread (mostly page 16 onwards), you can update Nemesis base modules in a semi-automatic way by using the update-base script . But let me emphasize the word "semi" and what this implies. By nature, Archlinux (and thus Artix ) ar...
