Re: porteus and windows 10: locked files ntfs and no fat32

Also, from porteus root mode all the windows 10 files are locked. I've also seen this. Shouldn't be too hard to overcome. No doubt it is because of fast boot or essentially a hibernation file. If mount finds a hibernation file it will not mount rw. I recall a force option worked when I faced this is...

Re: [SOLVED]Can't find wifi on Qualcomm Atheros Device

I just checked after running my kernel firmware strip and the firmware for /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0 is still present. Should be OK for next release. Please report any firmwares that are missing during bug reports. I can always add them back in. Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED]Can't find wifi on Qualcomm Atheros Device

Yes. Between 3.2.2 and somewhere in 4 the firmware files were removed from 000-core.xzm and left for maintainers to include as a package. During the strip of the full firmware package the atheros firmware was removed. I just read I put initrd when I meant 000-core.xzm. Sorry.

Re: [SOLVED]Can't find wifi on Qualcomm Atheros Device

I followed the askubuntu instructions, overrode the .../QCA9377/hw1.0/firmware-5.bin
I shall include it in initrd.xz. Thanks for the report and thanks donald for sorting it out.

Re: HOWTO search multiple modules

Or even better, do it like grep would do it when searching multiple files, print the module name with added ": " in front of the "grep result" list:

Code: Select all

grep -Hn
This will show you the filename and the line number.

Re: Linux Kernel Developers Discuss Dropping x32 Support

Virtualbox 6 already dropped support for 32bit. Virtualbox 5 will support 32bit until 2020. Pity version 6 didn't even work for me.

Re: search multiple modules

I'm not on linux right now but a simple loop should be able to list the content modules and then grep for what you need. for module in $(find $1 -type f -name "*.xzm"); do lsxzm $module | grep "$2" done You would call this script with 2 arguments. 1. Path to a bunch of modules 2. Argument to grep fo...

Re: Linux Kernel Developers Discuss Dropping x32 Support

They've been saying 32bit support is at End Of Life for some time now. Just like python2 and gtk2 and lxde and typewriters. They were right about typewriters.

Until they remove the option in the kernel it will always be here. I still run some old 32bit machines with porteus.

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

Ok don't get carried away with a bash lesson. This is for bug reports.

In any case Rava I couldn't reproduce this mc bug in the porteus-v5 release candidate that I have here. Looks like it is fixed. tested with zip and tarball and both copied from archive into base folder containing the archive.

Re: run script in Porteus 4.0 Xfce

It is much safer to open a script file in a text editor by default than to execute by default, right?
Absolutely!

You can send some to me. We are talking about non-executable scripts right?

linux usb key that will boot and be recognized in window 10

from=/dev/disk/by-uuid/34103e53-f26a-4d02-8a9a-c6cb0915ab53/64bit_v31 This is odd. perhaps try from=UUID:34103e53-f26a-4d02-8a9a-c6cb0915ab53/64bit_v31 or from=/dev/sdc2/64bit_v31 If it gets to syslinux then the USB device is bootable and the problem is in the porteus.cfg file. Do you have anything...
