GPARTED use

Could it be that you are booting from the device that you want to install to?

You should boot using copy2ram in order to be able to nuke the drive that you booted from. If this is not your problem, please try to describe the process in more detail.

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

We are using syslinux 6+ now and the link you gave is how we are using syslinux for UEFI. The problem is the chain booting files which probably only chain successfully to older BIOS systems. The menu item boot from 1st hard drive now needs to detect if the drive is UEFI which I think is beyond the c...

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

This chain booting was created long before UEFI was introduced. Perhaps it should be removed from the menu. I will need to take a look at how syslinux can chain boot currently.

Display settings reset upon resuming

Can you please explain a little more so I can try to reproduce this?

1. Where do you set the display setting to use laptop on resume?
2. Is you monitor connected via VGA or HDMI?
3. Are you referring to sleep or hibernate from which you 'resume'?

Thanks for the report.

How to update intel-microcode

If you've updated your BIOS chances are you won't need the microcode. Only way to know is to update and run the sniffer script. You can always get latest microcode from here: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/system/intel-microcode/ Just compile it and copy out the resulting .cpio file from th...

Timezone and RTC timescale cheatcodes does not work

Understand now. But this is a secret, you should not write here... I do not need it since always login=root :buhehe: :ROFL: That made my day! timezone=Etc/UTC utc Perhaps the problem is here. You don't seem to have a hardware clock using utc so remove that cheat. Also your cheat should be something...

You should partition exactly as you have shown above. Put the FAT32 partition first and windows will see it. It will not use the other ext partitions.

Uefi and porteus 3.0

A new way to convert MBR to GPT!! And no data lost. Linux is sooo much easier than this windows tool. @n0ctilucient I think they are talking about a symlink on the real file system on the installation media. The symlink you're talking about is different. The filesystem doesn't even exist at boot ti...

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

I was using the gnome-mpv front end. Looks like some recent activity on their github too. The dependencies are?
glib >= 2.44
gtk >= 3.18[2]
mpv >= 0.27
epoxy
lua (optional)
youtube-dl (optional)

It's the only one that will go with xfce.

After you set up the connection with NetworkManager you can create a module with the files in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections
