Kernel builder script -- simple version

If you just want to use 5.16.11 in Porteus 4, I guess you can simply copy the module (and vmlinuz) built in your current. It should work.

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

Can you try a clean 'install' (i.e. just /boot and /porteus)?

Kernel builder script -- simple version

This kernel script should work in Porteus 4, yes. I can't guarantee much though, especially if you use current devel.

When/what exactly couldn't find the cfg file?

Kernel builder script -- simple version

So you just built 5.16.11 using my script and nothing else?

Kernel builder script -- simple version

@ed_P, it's not clear what exactly you did to make it work. You just compiled 5.16.11? Using my script?

And, yes, make sure everything works without any additional module.

I see progress :)

Kernel builder script -- simple version

The wifi doesn't work with 5.15.1 which is why I have the kernel-firmware-20220218_c53073d-noarch-1.xzm module and prior to that I had the kernel-firmware-20211229_57d6b95-noarch-1.xzm module for the same reason. 5.16.10 doesn't support the wifi with the 20220218 firmware module and trying to test ...

Actually I would prefer to copy some of the firmware folder from the new 5.16.10 to my 5.15.1. :)
Could you please test 5.16.10 with the entire firmware folder from 5.15.1 and focus 100% in the wifi card?

This devel module check is a nice upgrade. Thanks!

@Ed_P, you can try to copy the firmware folder from 5.15.1 to your 5.16.9 and see what happens.

Yeah, that 115 thing means nothing. Go ahead and try to boot with this new kernel. Don't forget to copy vmlinuz to boot/syslinux, otherwise your system will get mad

@Ed_P, you don't need to download anything apart from the tar.gz file in the first post. Just extract it and run: kernel.sh 5.16.10

Make sure your devel module is activated and you have internet connection.

Midori 9.0 browser (WebKitGtk 2.35.1)

Midori has nothing to do with that. It relies 100% on Webkit engine.

Can you give me some examples?

why modules

@rych, either using rootcopy or save.dat these files will be merged into filesystem (RAM) during the boot process -- after all xzm modules are loaded. There's a performance impact, sure, and it will depend on the amount and size of files and your CPU/RAM and storage speeds. As beny pointed, xzm modu...
