Porteus linux on the net or on the waves of the web

I doubt it. Part of this memory consumption is Porteus itself (regardless of the DE). So less than, I guess, 120 MB is not possible even booting into text mode with no DE module loaded.

Porteus linux on the net or on the waves of the web

@Rava, it's hard to say the minimum to run the system, since it will depend of the use -- a browser, for instance, can take 1 GB of RAM pretty easily. Here are the measurements of the after-boot: ***Cinnamon x64*** RAM: 437 MB ***KDE x64*** RAM: 410 MB ***LXDE x64*** RAM: 209 MB ***LXQt x64*** RAM: ...

that would be magnificent - (if it were true). ;)
Except for your opinion (preferring app X over Y), give me some examples of Porteus 4 bugs that require the Xfce module to increase to something remotely close to the 45 MB of 3.2.2. Tip: if you know the answer, welcome to the dev team :good:

...if you have to add MB's of stuff afterwards to make it work like it did before? ;)
Except that this is not the case. ;)

Here's a Xfce module for you to test the Mousepad theme: http://www.mediafire.com/file/2327wm9c5 ... e-test.xzm

Regarding the Mpv not being able to open DVDs, have you tried to drag the VIDEO_TS folder to it? You can jump to the chapter you want on the bottom left.

Uefi and porteus 3.0

The problem with FAT32 is that it doesn't support symlinks, so it's not an ideal solution. But I'll give it a try anyway. Thanks.

Have you tried (using ext4 w/) UNetbootin ?
Non-Windows partition is not an option for me. Does Unetbooting work with NTFS + UEFI?

I use Easy2Boot, which use to be RMPrepUSB.
Cool! Do you have a xzm for this app? :)

Do you know Rufus? It's a Windows program that tries to simplify things in this regard. I tried basically everything using Porteus 4: FAT, FAT32, NTFS. MBR, GPT. Absolutely nothing works, hahaha!

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

@donald, don't get me wrong, but if in your opinion Porteus 4 has no advantage over 3.2.2, why don't you keep using 3.2.2 instead?

Mission, goals and mean: working toward a better porteus

@donald, the module taking less space is not an advantage for the developers. Quite the opposite! It's easy to create a fat distro like Ubuntu family. It's hard to create a distro like TinyCore, regardless of what you prefer. So having just what is needed to work means being faster and consuming les...

Uefi and porteus 3.0

I might be wrong, but 'Porteus-installer-for-Linux.com' usually formats on for legacy mode not UEFI. Or at least that's what I saw yesterday after countless tries of booting Porteus through UEFI -- no success at all.

Uefi and porteus 3.0

And here we go with chaos, hahaha! I just want things to be simple :fool: The funny thing is that there's nothing on the UEFI specification requiring a FAT32 partition to work, however, for an unknown reason motherboard manufacturers decided that non-FAT32 partitions are not good for UEFI.

Mission, goals and mean: working toward a better porteus

@Ed_P, the idea is good, but most users don't know how to differentiate a DE issue from a generic Porteus issue.

Uefi and porteus 3.0

The big question is: does it allow us to boot through UEFI using a NTFS partition? :)
