I'm aware of this issue. I've already reported to the developers, but they don't seem to care. So, ...

The Porteus settings centre does not start from the menu, but can be started from a root terminal.

@n0ctilucient, do you remove both GTK 2 and 3 before using from Porteus?

Gnome mPlayer alternative?

"flxine" is an ultra lightweight FLTK frontend for xine. (it's basically... a Gnome mPlayer alternative that avoids Gtk/Qt bloat) I don't know the size of FLXine since I couldn't find it anywhere, but I know it requires: FLTK: Installed size: 3.40 MB Xine-lib: Installed size: 36.70 MB Also, it is a...

Thunar File associations

This context menu thing is set through mime types, and it's a pain in the ass to correctly set. To set the default program for each mime type, you should lo...

Porteus came and (almost) kicked Windows

Exactly! Porteus has this testing-proof thing that is very suitable for learners. I'm messing system files very often, but just need to reboot and voilà :)

3.2.2 migration to 4.0 problem.

@wread, can you be more specific regarding the performance? Like, your machine specs, what exactly is slow and how slow, etc.

@Ed_P, yours come with Gecko/Mono and the txz doesn't (although during the first run it offers an option to download both) :)

Wine on Porteus

Yes, Wine works nice with Porteus. Just need to download this txa package and convert it to xzm (right click):

https://sourceforge.net/projects/wine/f ... z/download

If you want to run x86 Windows applications, you'll also need lib32compat.

You can try this: https://serverfault.com/questions/67497 ... der/674978
