Re: Password Manager

Thanks @Ed_P for the suggestion. I've tried keepassx on Windows and it looks ok. Doesn't handle the syncing like UPM, but I'll have to sort that another way. Couldn't try it on Debian as it's stuffed right now. On Porteus, I installed it, and got the keepassx message as below. I then installed libqt...

Strange results from mount (without args)

Just for info. Porteus 3.2.2 XFCE 64 off USB stick. Issuing the mount command to list mounts, I got rather too much output, with repetitions booting in graphics mode. Normal in fresh mode. Deleting porteus/changes/etc/mtab fixed the problem. Here's the deleted mtab: /dev/sdb2 /mnt/sdb2 ext4 noatime,...

Thunar as root

I'm not sure if this one is a bug or a feature. Porteus 3.2.2 XFCE off USB stick. I've noticed 2 strange differences running Thunar as root rather than as guest. The partition labels aren't displayed in the left pane as root. I can't mount an ISO on a USB FAT partition using right click as root. To ...

Password Manager

I use UPM as my password manager on Debian and Windows. http://upm.sourceforge.net/ I sync the encrypted file between OS's using some free web hosting (it syncs over http). There's a ppa for Ubuntu on launchpqd.net that I use as an apt source in Debian. https://launchpad.net/~adriansmith/+archive/ub...

Re: Problems installing v3.2.2 to USB stick

Thanks @brokerman, that worked. Also thanks for showing how to modify the boot menu - I should be able to multi-boot now. So, the restriction is that the boot stuff has to be on the first partition. I can live with that. Much better than the usual fight for the mbr. Just got to read up on modules no...

Re: Problems installing v3.2.2 to USB stick

Just simply try: http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=5758 for your 3.2.2 ISO file. This creates fat partition (visible to windoze) and ext4 partition. Request 3 GB for fat. When done use: Menu > Partion Editor to make remaining 4/5 partitions. Much less hassle. 8) f Yes, simple if it did ...

Problems installing v3.2.2 to USB stick

Having the need for Porteus after a longish absence, I booted up v3.1 from USB. After a quick look at the latest announcements, I thought I would get the latest v3.2.2. As a bonus, it would give me the chance to get a feel for 4 different desktops. I downloaded the xfce 64 iso (and later the other 3...

Re: PLoP showextended

Thanks, Donald. In boot/syslinux as root with the config program in the same directory. the command ./plpcfgbt plpbt listed the options as set and ./plpcfgbt showextended=yes plpbt changed the option However, the result was not as I expected. It just listed the extended partition, not the contained ...
