I see about 30 ways to disable sound at startup, but I can't find much of anything on turning specific OS sounds on and off - particularly the awkwardly loud and long start up noise. I use Porteus as my everyday-use OS, so sound is important, just not the startup noise. Thanks in advance for your help

There are few things I hate on any machine more than "tap to click". I have found on another, older porteus forum post that someone was able to disable this by: synclient TapButton1=0 but then how to make that change persistent through reboots? Someone suggested adding that command to /etc/rc.d/rc.l...
