Re: USM: /usr/lib/liblua.so symlink is not created.

Seems to be fixed in upstream (Alien Bob) http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/lua/build/lua.SlackBuild # 5.1.5-2: 12/oct/2015 by Eric Hameleers <alien@slackware.com> # * Instead of a patch and several lines of sed, use the patch-less # logic from the slackbuilds.org script; adds missing libl...

Re: [Not Recommended]adduser command may have gremlins

The "convention" of setting group id (GID) = user id (UID) exists only in the Desktop world and is not universal. Also, the useradd dialog explicitly states that the GID will be set to users , not UID. Initial group....: users ... test:x:1111:100:,,,:/home/test:/bin/bash ( users is GID 100) guest@po...

dvtm - dynamic virtual terminal manager

dvtm || dynamic virtual terminal manager || Tiling window management for the console dvtm brings the concept of tiling window management, popularized by X11-window managers like dwm to the console. As a console window manager it tries to make it easy to work with multiple console based programs. Pr...

Re: Update Cryptsetup to v1.6+

cryptsetup is now at v1.6.7 and adds support for VeraCrypt containers[1]. Note that VeraCrypt has patched some flaws[2] in TrueCypt, and so is now the defacto replacement for TrueCrypt. Re: Wireshark

USM has version wireshark-1.10.5 . You will need to enable capturing for the guest user account. https://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/CapturePrivileges http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1169 groupadd wireshark usermod -G wireshark -a guest ls -l /usr/bin/dumpcap chgrp wireshark /usr/b...

Re: USM: ImageMagick requires LCMS (solved)

Thanks @brokenman - USM v3.1.4 pulls in lcms2 (lcms2-2.4-i486-1.xzm) which creates the required links. Before installing ImageMagick. guest@porteus:~$ ls -l /usr/lib/liblcms* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 784 Jun 20 2012 /usr/lib/liblcms.la* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Aug 3 15:52 /usr/lib/liblcms.so -> libl...

Re: Porteus changing distro

Not sure if the poll is closed, as on my BlackBerry the poll section is read only. WRT Distribution, I've used Puppy and Debian/Ubuntu/Live in the past. However, my vote would be to stay with slackware. The main reason I switched from Debian is the move to systemd, which I don't like as it grossly v...

Re: USM: ImageMagick requires LCMS

Thanks.

(I was thinking more of LO adding a link point to /usr/lib so that it can be found by other packages.)

Re: USM: ImageMagick requires LCMS

USM does not touch the slackware packages (unless converting to modules) so adding a symlink is not an option. Understood. How can I contact the Slackware package maintainer? (Not sure how it works in Slackware, I've been mostly a Puppy and Debian ecosystem user. I googled a bit before posting the ...
