Re: Chrome crashes and logs me out

If Chrome isn't reliable, and Opera is dead, do you recommend Firefox as the best browser?

I see that I can download an RPM for Vivaldi. Sorry for this newbie question here: How does one install an RPM into Porteus?

[Solved] stand-alone module download link broken

I love Porteus' download page and the flexibility it gives in getting just what I want.

At the bottom of the download page, the link for downloading stand-alone modules is broken.

Re: Chrome crashes and logs me out

I'm using KDE.

But with 1.8 GB and running such a small operating system as Porteus, I didn't think that Chrome would cause a problem!

Re: Chrome crashes and logs me out

I downloaded and compiled Chromium. It also crashes just like Chrome does.

Re: Chrome crashes and logs me out

Opera doesn't cause the crash. So it seems to just be with Chrome.

Chrome crashes and logs me out

I have a relatively new Asus X200M Notebook computer. This has 1.8 GB or RAM and a dual core Intel Celeron CPU N2830 processor running at 2.16Gh. On this computer and running Porteus 3.1, Chrome crashes. It starts with the wiggly icon, but then I find that I am logged out and I need to log-in in ord...

Fatal error in downloading the database update

I have gotten this error repeatedly with both the 64 and 32 bit versions of Porteus 3.1. The text of the error is below. Also, on this computer (an Asus X200M), running Porteus Chrome crashes. It starts with the wiggly icon, but then I find that I am logged out and it asks me for my password. On a m...

running Java program

I am trying to run a Java program, and the documentation says it runs well with openJDK. On my linuxmint machine, I can just double click on an sh file and the program executes without installing anything beyond what is there already. So on Porteus 3.01 I installed gcc-java-4.8.2... But when I try t...

This does not seem to work for me. I downloaded and installed all three files. Is there something else?

Re: updating from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

To return to my initial post and updating on what happened: I didn't follow Brokenman's advice literally. Wish I had have! What I did didn't work. I thought, "OK, instead of doing the copying from the text version while using Porteus, I could just replace the files Brokenman listed from the Porteus ...

Re: updating from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

Thanks so much for your reply. A problem has cropped up. I wonder if you would know why. One reason that I have enjoyed Porteus is that it has worked with some odd hardware. With 3.0.43 32bit version (not sure of last two digits), the wireless on my five year old IMac works immediately. With 3.0.1 3...

updating from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

Is there a way to easily update versions without rebuilding my applications and changes file? Could I just copy over the Boot and Porteus/Changes folders over to my flash disk?

Is the change in versions enough to bother upgrading at all?
