NVIDIA GeForce 7300 with DVI cable

I'm using Porteus v1.10 with my old PC.

When I use analog VGA cable, Porteus starts without any problem.

But when I use DVI(Digital Visual Interface), Porteus cannot start X-Window.

What's wrong ?

Should I add "vga-detect" cheatcode, and add nVidia video drivers ?

Please advise!

Re: How to build the kernel 3.4.4(Portues v1.20)?

Hi fanthom san,

Thank you for the comment.
I found the patches and kernel config.
I could build kernel 3.4.4, and get bzImage.

[Solved]How to build the kernel 3.4.4(Portues v1.20)?

When I'm using Porteus v1.10, I could build the kernel using Porteus-v1.1-kernel-patches_config-i486.tar.gz. Now, I'm trying to use v1.20. I want to build the kernel of Porteus v1.20, but there is no kernel-patches for v1.2. I found the file,crippled_sources-porteus-v1.2-i486-1ftm.xzm. It includes p...

[Solved]load base modules from other device

Porteus load base modules from a hard disk which is not boot disk. Before it happened, I copied porteus folder from USB stick to local hard disk. I did not copy boot folder. The hard disk has those folders and files. /porteus/base/000-core.xzm /porteus/base/001-kernel.xzm /porteus/base/... When I tr...

Re: ERROR: No configuration file found

Dear brokenman san, Ahau san, Thank you for comment and advice! I could solve the problem. Porteus USB stick can boot on the PC. The root cause was FAT32. I suppose the Bios cannot understand FAT32 file system. I guess newer PC bios supports FAT32 ?? I format the USB with FAT16, then it was solved.

Re: ERROR: No configuration file found

Thank you for your comment! My PC is not hp. I bought GIGABYTE mother board. I checked the Bios setting, and confirmed that the USB stick is recognized as USB-HDD. Actually, when using LiveCD , it works fine. I suppose some people have same experience. I have Porteus v09.iso image, and create USB bo...

[SLOVED] ERROR: No configuration file found

I downloaded Porteus v1.10 32bit version. I create a bootable USB stick and a bootable CD-RW using iso image. It works fine on some PCs, but one of them show this error while booting. -------------- SYSLINUX 4.04 CHS 2011-04-18 Copyright (C) 1994-2011 H. Peter Anvin et al ERROR: No configuration fil...

[SOLVED] How to avoid "Welcome Porteus" message ?

It is not a bug, it maybe a design of the porteus. But I really want to know a solution for this. I add a cheatcode "toroot" , but it does not work. Actually I use little bit old x-window module which I use with slax v6.xx. When I use 002-xorg.xzm (which is included), "toroot" work fine. When I use ...

[SOLVED] Bootsplash does not work

I downloaded Porteus v1.0 RC1 and RC2 recently, I tried to show bootsplash, but it did not show. I checked the FAQ. >>How can I change the default bootsplash image? I suppose it supports the feature. So I add image ( splash -s -f /etc/xxxx/xxx.cfg >> initrd.xz ) and add same cheatcode into .cfg. I t...
