Chrome Address Bar

I am on 4.9 on my test box. Google translate works fine if I just go directly to https://translate.google.com so I don't think this is necessarily an issue with the kiosk. I was going to try and use Chrome since it is working there but definitely want to disable the address bar so i'll deal with Fir...

switching tabs in Firefox when disabling the address bar

If I don't hide the address bar I can hot CTRL + Tab to switch back and forth between different open tabs in Firefox but if I hide the address bar I can only switch tabs one. As an example, I have two tabs that open automatically when I start my kiosk to two different sites. I can CTRL + Tab from th...

Re: Certificate importing issue

I never updated this but I ended up figuring out what I was doing wrong. Basically I had typed the path to the directory where the certificates were located but not the certificates themselves so I typed the filenames for the 3 certificates I needed to import it took care of my issue.

Certificate importing issue

We have an enterprise CA server so I don't really consider this a self signed certificate. We have an Ironport WSA web filter which acts as a transparent proxy. Users need to authenticate to the proxy before internet access is allowed which I already have addressed. My issue now is that because my k...

Re: Firefox Favorites

Awesome... thanks a lot.
On another note, are existing kiosks upgradable or would I have to redeploy with a new image for the new version?

Thanks

Firefox Favorites

I am trying to find out if there is a way to manage a list of favorites (bookmarks)for Firefox without having them all automatically open when I boot the system. I am using remote management and would like to be able to add or remove sites as needed but not necessarily have those sites as a homepage...

HTTPS Remote Management question

1st of all I want to thank the developers for an awesome job. I am loving the remote management function, the fact that NTP was integrated in the wizard and all the hard work they put into the latest version. I do have a question regarding the Remote management of the kiosks. I have setup an apache ...

Re: Assign Static IP to kiosk

I tried it shortly after asking the question but somehow I broke the ISO. It started booting and gets stuck on the porteus kiosk background and never finished booting to my home page. This could have something to do with the way I create my ISOs I am not sure but I have had similar results in the pas...

Re: Porting customizations to kiosk 3.1

Excellent answer... I like the idea of having one xzm with all my changes as it makes it easier to keep up with them.
I'll give it a try and report back.

Thanks again

Porting customizations to kiosk 3.1

I have some customizations that I would like to port to the new Kiosk version. The customizations are making use of the rootcopy directory which I understand is no longer used in the new version (3.1) and would like to know what the best way to port those would be. My customizations are a local html...

Re: Assign Static IP to kiosk

Thanks for the instructions. I looked at the rc.M file on my test system and this is what it has for the line you mentioned: # Initialize the networking hardware: [ -x /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 ] && . /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 Also I found this line: # Set hostname: hostname porteus Could the hostname not be chan...

Re: Assign Static IP to kiosk

Ok, so I finally got around to working on this again. I corrected my typo and created a new ISO, installed it and when I boot the system, my homepage tells me cannot connect to the server. I figured out this is due to the fact that we killed dhcpcd and I have not defined a DNS server anywhere so I c...
