Re: Uefi and porteus 3.0

Hi bour59 - Is there a link with brokenman and you discussing this uefi? Is there a link for the description on how to use the file "create-uefi-usb-v2.sh" (from brokenman)? I am kind of curious how it works. It is not something I need right away, but I am interested in how you handle uefi, if there...

Re: limits on save.dat file

I have read some documentation. Just not all of it. I am sure I am half off reading something that is isn't essential, not knowing which order to follow. I will read some more definitely. I didn't come across the part about the modules and anything about being forced to use ntfs. I will certainly lo...

limits on save.dat file

Hi- Is there any limit on save.dat file size? For i.e. if I use an external drive or big flash drive, can I make the save.dat much larger. Puppy linux used to have a limit, but I can' remember the exact size for their pup save files. I should be storing packages I want to persist in save.dat with pa...

Re: package manager GUI

Hi- Thanks for the really cool tip. v3 final sounds awesome! I will do it when my mifi data resets in 5 days. I can't wait for instance to check out the note taking application http://basket.kde.org/‎ . I will try to build it from source, and I can install requirements from package manager. thanks!

package manager GUI

Hi- porteus v3 rc2 I can't get ppm. Please let me know how to reset. Couldn't find ppmdefault with usm or slackyd. Can I download the package for the package manager with slackyd or usm? Not sure why because I had the package manager running at first maybe and now it is only cli. I read about missin...

Re: no netowrk configuration

oops. and of course, many thanks. The pns-tool is really cool. If the automatic tool doesn't end up running, I won't need to worry.

Re: no netowrk configuration

Hi- The print out from cat /proc/cmdline trick didn't work. Nonetwork is not listed in that print out. I still can use pns-tool. If you want to take a break trying to help, that is cool. Maybe we could see if anyone else reports this. To be honest, I had tried a few things to "fix it" from the inter...

Re: no netowrk configuration

Hi-

I tried
dbus-launch nm-connection-editor

but everything is grayed out.

Any other ideas? Sorry for not getting back in a while. I was caught in a vicious work cycle.

thanks

Re: no netowrk configuration

Hi-

Problem solved. I glanced at the " instruction for including or not including with ssid. At a glance, I read it wrong.

the pns-tool works really good.

thanks

Re: no netowrk configuration

Hi- I made some more progress. This time i tried the pns-tool. I don't get any debug errors but it doesn't connect "in a few seconds" or even "a few minutes". It complained about fast_reauth. If I leave that line in, I get a parse error. If I delete the line fast_reauth, no errors, but it won't conn...

Re: no network configuration

HI It seems to be a bug. Lots of users talk about the nm-connection-editor grayed out when trying to run it as root. I am not sure what to do. People suggest changing some packages but that seems to require an internet connection. I thought I heard some people saying to switch the log in manager mig...
