Re: 3.2.2 & OpenOffce, WPS Office, GnomeCommander, USM

Okay, that file name's accurate and that and the linked file don't work. :( i see gnome-commander needs python, sometimes usm has a problem t...

Sorry for tardy reply. Thanks for your answer. I have to get back on this. Thanks.ncmprhnsbl wrote:where does mint mount sdc1? is it in /mnt or somewhere else?
because the installer.com requires mounting to be in /mnt..Code: Select all
sudo mkdir /mnt/sdc1 sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/sdc1 cd /mnt/sdc1/boot

Unable To Redirect Installation to sdc1
Greetings! Following instructions to letter on https://www.maketecheasier.com/install-portable-linux-on-usb-drive/ (installing via ./Porteus-installer-for-Linux.com) but when I get to the pre-install screen it states ready to install om sdb1 and not sdc1 as I desire. I see no means to retarget the i...

Disabling Bluetooth To extend battery time.
Greetings!
Various user sites say turning off Bluetooth extends battery time dramatically. I wish to do so with my R60e Thinkpad but the usual Function key-F5 Bluetooth on-off switch doesn't seem to work under Porteus 3.1. Is there a way?
Thanks!

nomachine_5.1.44_1_i386 doesn't boot
Greetings! Though I converted nomachine_5.1.44_1_i386 into a module I can't get it to boot on my heirlomb R31 Thinkpad. It's highly recommended as a Linux server so I very much wish to give this a try. Teamviewer 11.0.57095 i386 won't even convert to xzm so there's no alternative. Any suggestions we...

Re: how do I install RealTek wifi drivers without Sudo Apt-G
Thanks for your inputs! rtl8188eu-master worked like a charm! Really, they should distill all that long confusing techie lingo into short simple instructions like extract to Desktop, command line type cd Desktop/rtl8188eu-master, type make, type sudo make install and be done with it!

It's okay now. A user recommended me to delete the .cache folder and all is well.brokenman wrote:jimwg I don't fully understand your problem. Porteus 3.1 has been working fine for some years now. Could the problem be somewhere in your changes?

how do I install RealTek wifi drivers without Sudo Apt-Get?
Greetings! I wish to use a RealTek RTL8188ETV wifi dongle on my heirlomb R31 Thinkpad and believe I need the right drivers since it's not plug-and-play in Porteus like in Mint or Xubuntu. Only thing is I can't use their sudo apt-get install method to get the drivers, forget the chicken and the egg t...

Getting A Dual-Boot Screen Up on Xubuntu Disk
Greetings All! Just educational experimenting! To see whether I can improve performance on R31 Thinkpad installed with latest Xubuntu, I just installed Porteus 3.1 on the same only partition. Porteus resides there quietly; in root mode I can see all Xubuntu folders and files intact as usual, and I l...
