Will there be a Porteus-XFCE-v3.2.2-i486.iso?

I would like to construct an iso that allows for booting into either i486 or i586 using the same 32-bit modules. I assume this won't work with Porteus-XFCE-v3.2.2-i586 and Porteus-XFCE-v3.1-i486. Must I compile this myself?

Re: Porteus 3.17.4 compile kernel just to enable 64GB 32bit

Would you please post the resulting 32bit PAE Porteus version or document your work in recompiling the kernel. I will try to also to recompile. I would love to have a working 32bit PAE version of Porteus. TIA

Re: Wishlist for porteus 3.1

The most obvious solution is a combined 32/64 bit kernel (selectable at boot) with 32bit software. The main advantage of the 64bit kernel is that it allows addressing a larger memory space and so many more programs will run simultaneously. While the kernel runs somewhat faster at 64 bit, PROGRAMS ge...

Re: Wishlist for porteus 3.1

My wishlist is for a combined 32/64bit environment that uses 32bit software with the compatibility library for 64bit. The advantage is that such a OS on a stick drive (or whatever they are called today) can be taken to any computer and the beautiful, personalized Porteus system run. The reason for t...

Re: 32 / 64 bit kernel

The problem with the method described is that it appears that two separate filesystems are necessary. I think this means that two separate desktops are maintained with manual coordination between them, home for the 32-bit is not home for 64-bit, etc. OTOH, I have combined the kernels in a single fil...

32 / 64 bit kernel

Hi everyone - I am coming over from the Knoppix community. I've been (rather unsuccessfully) trying to modularize Knoppix, something that you all have obviously accomplished. Porteus 2.1 is almost perfect for my needs. My only problem is that I currently carry my Knoppix stick with me everywhere and...
