Splash Screen Stays Up

This looks Ok....it didn't boot to the porteus splash screen? Hmm... --> which currently boot in BIOS mode.<-- Could it be that this does not work the same way as a real BIOS machine? Try to install Porteus as described in USB_INSTALLATION.txt for EFI systems. As a last resort - for testing purposes...

Just to make it clear.
nvidiafb is a framebuffer driver inside the Linux Kernel.
It is not the proprietary module from nvidia. (nvidia.ko).

Audio CDs on Porteus and a nice surprise

@fulalas It's a good question with a simple answer: CDA files are a Windows thing. CDA files are created by the Windows CD driver and are not actually on the CD. CDA files contain no music, they only point to where the music is located on the CD. Normally the disc's Table Of Contents (TOC) provides ...

Salix repo doesn't load...

/etc/usm/usm.conf
remove salix at line 27
DISTROS="slackware slackwarepatches slacky salix alien ponce slackonly"
usm -u all will ignore salix then but you can still update salix manually
with usm -u salix

Copy Audio CD with freedb info without Internet

To get the (CD) disc-id one can use cd-discid
The output of cd-discid:
8HexDigitID NumberOfTracks Track1StartFrame Track2StartFrame..TrackNStartFrame DiscLengthInSeconds
you need only the 8HexDigitID to query it at
