@fanthom
My apologies, it was there all along. Too much time staring at the monitor. :fool:

Re: Porteus and SVN

I think you have got the general idea, only track the work you are responsible for and cut down all the other clutter. If you need any assistance, be glad to help. My sympathies to you and your countrymen on the recent disaster. Posted after 32 minutes 26 seconds: As I was responding to Virtual Desk...

[SOLVED] Missing rc.sshd from openssh package

"/etc/rc.d/rc.sshd" is missing in the x64 arch of V1.0-Alpha of Porteus. While there are ways to get sshd working, this file makes it easy to start/stop the sshd service. It is part of the openssh-5.7p1-x86_64-2 slackware package and placed on the filesystem as "/etc/rc.d/rc.sshd.new".

Re: Porteus and SVN

There were definitely certain files it didn't like and would drop out ... from memory in /dev That makes sense as svn does not deal with character/block devices. Better off completely removing all /dev entries and recreating them after checkout/export with makedev. The entire Porteus OS is tied up ...

Re: Kernel config

You learn something new everyday. It never occurred to me to modprobe configs. I usually just use it for hardware drivers and never really considered it for anything else. For the record, CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN is Y (enabled).

Thanks and will mark it [SOLVED]

Re: Porteus and SVN

This was initially my plan and i have the local svn in place doing just this, however; unfortunately after several tens of failed attempts to commit the whole 1Gb of source to google code's svn, i gave up and decided to use the current system. Can I ask what type of errors you were seeing ? Were th...

Porteus and SVN

I am ecstatic over the fact that Porteus is using revision control. A huge improvement over SLAX. But I don't understand the reasoning behind committing binary (.xzm) files to the repo. Ideally the repo would consist of shell scripts/makefiles that pull source and compile to create the distro. The p...

[SOLVED] Kernel config

Can someone point me to the kernel .config file used in 1.0 Alpha ? Or even better can I suggest that it be enabled in the kernel itself (CONFIG_IKCONFIG_PROC). This came about while I was trying to determine if the kernel supported Multi LUN devices (CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN). Supplying a .config or b...

Vmware tools compilation fails to find gcc

I am trying to compile vmware tools on Porteus V0.9 and even though I have set the CC env variable, explicitly spell out gcc's location (/usr/bin/gcc), it fails. BTW, 'which gcc' works and so does just running it. Has anyone compiled VMware tools on Porteus and by any chance would this be related to...
