Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

You can experiment..rename Porteus written boot folder with a -p. "-p" :%) Don't understand. https://linux.die.net/man/1/mv Copy [BOOT],boot, efi folders from one of neko's isos. The boot directory will have a grub directory with , x86_64.efi, efiboot.img and grub.cfg. folder/files. Edit your grub m...

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

raja, I'm confused. How does syslinux invoke the grub system? :%) Or are you saying the USB drive boots directly to grub, or is that grub2, rather than syslinux?

Porteus-v4.0 bug reports

Code: Select all

Warning: No MBR magic, treating disk as raw
Results of selecting porteus.cfg's Boot from the first hd menu option. Booted to Porteus 4.0 installed on a USB single partition drive booted on an EFI system. Fortunately the machine boots just fine when the USB drive is removed.

Installing LibreOffice on pen drive

It is, if you know how to use it. You have to update the USM databases (mirrors), and maybe tweak the USM mirror files if one is down or has a problem, and maybe choose between many files that contain required dependencies. And if you have slow Internet access it can be a long time to download and d...

linux usb key that will boot and be recognized in window 10

On /mnt/sda1 I have a FAT32 partition with the EFI and boot folder. How do I get that done? This process worked for me. Single partition, FAT32 format, recognized in Windows 10 and Linux and pretty much any other system. guest@porteus:~$ EFI/porteus-efi-usb.sh ISO=/mnt/sda6/ISOs/Porteus-CINNAMON-v4...

Installing LibreOffice on pen drive

I tried update-libreoffice. Initially it said I had to download (getpkg), and activate, a binutils module before the update would run. Easy enough and quick to do, but then after restarting the update it cranked away for a minute and ended with: root@porteus:/home/guest# update-libreoffice Starting ...

Good point ncm . And I agree that that is how I thought it is suppose to work also. But to keep things in sync I could understand it being copied to the /mnt/live/memory folder initially. To make things more confusing my changes file in the /mnt/live/memory/images/ folder shows as totalling 79.1 MB....

[Solved] Xdialog

When I execute Xdialog:

Code: Select all

Xdialog --msgbox "save.dat file $percent full. Used: $used Free: $avail" 0 0
it opens a terminal window. Is there an option to run Xdialog with the terminal window minimized? :x

I've looked at Xdialog --help but don't see anything that would do htat. :Search:
