Re: Objective of Porteus?
"End user crap" - why installing a desktop environment anyway? I say: Kill the command-line! It limits the ability to use the computer. You don't realize how impossible this is, so: KILL THE COMMAND LINE! You avoid the need to actually create the OS. It's radical. It's unpopular. It seems to be usel...

Re: Objective of Porteus?
To seperate from ubuntu, debian, and all the other distros, I think GUI is most important. The perfect linux doesn't need a terminal anymore to get configured and used. All important settings and functions are accesible from within the window-manager. This begins with central permission-settings, to...

Convert modules (sq3 to sq4)
Sorry for that old question but forum search doesn't allow searching for "convert module sq4": How do I convert slax-classic-modules to sq4.lzm-modules? The modules-tools in my version don't offer the convert-option anymore. Found a bunch of classic-lzms which I really would like to extract/convert.

Re: trinity64
Yes, KDE with slax-classic. It's still worse than XP but at least faster then kde4, lxde and alike. In lxde, I hardly can use firefox, dolphin and kwrite at the same time. Desktop-switching is not working properly, programs load slowly, a menu editor is missing and mouse-coursor-themes are only part...

Anyone tried compiling trinity for slacks-remix64? Propably impossible to do for human users, a perfectly compiled trinity_x64.sq4.lzm would be an attractive entry on the download-page. Simply converting trinitys tgz-modules to lzm is by far not enough. Guess it needs to be compiled it some special ...

slax-get not working
In slax-clasic I used to take slax-get to download packages. It downloads and converts slackwares txz-packages to lzm-packages, executes maybe included scripts and cares for dependecies. As result, slax-get places several lzm-packages on the desktop (the downloaded program + neccesary libraries/addi...
