[HOWTO] make a xzm module driver for NVIDIA video card

I don't agree with this, because if you don't placed blacklist.xzm to /porteus/base/ - you are not able to compile Nvidia driver in the Text mode. Blaze is right on that, wherever the blacklist module is located - base or optional - it needs to be activated during the bootup, the compiling will fai...

which is already happening with the update I suggested here.
At least I get directed to the very first post of [HOWTO] make a xzm module driver for NVIDIA video card - can you please point out which post exactly you referring to?

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems

As you can see, hwdec flag is now set to auto. Since I seem to be a bit slow getting all this hardware acceleration and official Nvidia drivers right - my question: does one need to export the vdpau variable to have vdpau hardware acceperation e.g. does the user have to do a guest@porteus:/$ export...

[HOWTO] make a xzm module driver for NVIDIA video card

3- I'm not removing blacklist.xzm because I don't like the idea of removing a file that the installer doesn't create; I agree. I have my blacklist.xzm renamed as XXXblacklist.xzm and all the other needed modules for Nvidia driver compile named XXX* as well - and put into optional/ - to be able to s...

@Rava, see this topic to better understand Nvidia driver number conventions: Understanding Nvidia drivers numbers (plus: xzm modules) There you wrote: GeForce up to 300 -> driver version up to 340.xx (current 340.101) Current was last I checked 340.107 - and is GeForce GT330M now included in "GeFor...

Current version is 430.34 :good: AFAIK this is a working version for recent hardware, but for older hardware, older versions are needed, e.g. 340.107 (unless there is now a newer 340 version) or even 304.37 (unless there is now a newer 304, blabla). My most recent hardware is in a Laptop - GeForce ...

Note 1: gcc is updated.
gcc-9.1.0-x86_64-1 ---> gcc-9.1.0-x86_64-2
Would that be too much of a change to push e.g. Nvidia driver compile off its tracks?

I think that not bad if brokenman replace kernel and all stuff (vmlinuz, 000-kernel.xzm, 06-crippled_sources.xzm) for him to current 5.1.xx kernel by neko in all ISO files and sync updated ISO files in the all Porteus mirrors. I think that would be even better. +2 But will also put workload on brok...

@Rava Sadly, you gave no info if the 5.1.17 kernel from the initial post is compiled using the correct gcc version of (GCC) 9.1.0: Sorry, dummy me only read the paragraph about 5.1.17 kernel and missed the above more generic info. Curse you selected but quick reading. http://e.deviantart.net/emotic...

Hi neko, some folks again ran into the already known issue when trying to compile Nvidia drivers or building VirtualBox under the official 5.0rc1 due to the very unfortunate mismatch between system gcc and kernel gcc: @ all and @ Rava , my and fulalas 's request with update kernel for Porteus-5.0rc1...

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems

I have solved this problem, I use vmlinuz initrd.xz and kernel.xzm from porteus v5.0 ; core.xzm and xorg.xzm from porteus v3.2.2rc5 and mate.xzm from porteus v3.2.2 rc4. And everything work fine. Beautiful. That is one h*ll of a mix, but when it works, all is fine. Hopefully the issue can be solved...

Yes, symlinks are supported in NTFS, but not in FAT filesystem.
Not true for older Windoze versions, e.g. NTFS created by Windoze-XP is unable to use symlinks, at least from Windoze 7 onwards it is true what you wrote.
